Hunting Destinations Jamy Traut Hunting Safaris Namibia

Jamy Traut Hunting Safaris’ plains-game and big-game hunting areas are selected for their variety and volume of game, scenic beauty and, of course, trophy quality. With a variety of areas available in Namibia, Jamy Traut Hunting Safaris offers a great diversity in hunting and tourism throughout Namibia.

Waterberg

full

Jamy Traut Hunting Safaris is proud to announce the acquisition of exclusive hunting rights on Namibia’s spectacular Waterberg Plateau, a 156-square-mile national park that frequently produces Africa’s largest Cape buffalo trophies. Moreover, unlike previous hunting operators who were limited to specific areas, the entire park will now be hunted. While most will come to Waterberg for huge Cape buffalo with an outside spread in the mid-to-upper 40s, Namibia’s best roans are also a heavy draw. Additional species include leopard, sable, eland, giraffe and hunts for multiple Cape buffalo will also be offered on a limited basis.

full

Waterberg operations begin in 2019 and will base from a luxury tent camp located inside the park boundary. The quality of trophies, quantity of game and the wilderness setting combine to make Waterberg one of Africa’s finest safari destinations. Combining a safari there with Kaokoland or the Kalahari is certain to produce the hunt of a lifetime. Based on initial demand, it is advisable to reserve Waterberg dates two or even three years in advance.

Panorama

full

Home to Jamy Traut and his family, Panorama is a hunter’s paradise. One of the most striking aspects of this paradise is the size of the hunting area. This includes Panorama itself, as well as several neighboring farms. At night the only lights visible in this beautiful, isolated part of Africa, are the stars surrounding the Southern Cross. The terrain is diverse. From mountains to red-sand dunes and grassland Savannah. A wide variety of game is available. This includes, which are the most popular, kudu, eland and oryx (gemsbok). In total, there is a selection of over 20 species on offer.

full
full

Panorama offers accommodation at the height of luxury and convenience. Jamy Traut Hunting Safaris’ guests can choose between thatched roof chalets or the luxury safari tents which boast full baths outlined on elevated permanent foundations near the Traut family home. Mouth-watering, full-course meals are served in the main dining area which houses a fully stocked bar.

full

All hunting is done on Panorama and adjoining properties, making this an ideal location for a family safari. A party of up to four hunters can be hosted, with additional observers also welcome. Panorama is less than a 3-hour drive from Windhoek airport. Hunts are hosted for a minimum of seven days to ensure you experience the ultimate safari. A hunt at Panorama is certain to be an experience of a lifetime, never to be forgotten.

Kalahari

full

One of the most beautiful landscapes in Africa, the Kalahari Desert is a fitting backdrop for what many consider to be the hunting’s greatest trophy, – a wild and free-ranging lion. Jamy Traut Hunting Safaris has exclusive access to a vast, private Kalahari hunting area that offers a very limited number of permits for lion and lioness each year. Kalahari lions are large and often wear good manes. The remote nature of this area affords the exciting possibility of tracking through the desert in addition to spot and stalk or hunting over bait. This property also offers an unsurpassed opportunity to hunt huge oryx (gemsbok), along with eland, red hartebeest, duiker and steenbok.

full
full

Kalahari hunts are based from a lodge, luxury tent camp or fly camp as depending on the conditions. Visitors can indulge in spectacular additional activities such as bird shooting. Hunters can also enquire about the possibility of combining the Kalahari lion hunt with plains game species. As with a Caprivi safari, it is advisable to arrange a Kalahari lion hunt as far in advance as possible.

full

Caprivi

full

The Caprivi Strip is a land of mighty rivers and extraordinary herds of big and plains game. This is the place for big ivory and old buffalo bulls. These are protected by several national parks with very limited trophy quotas established each year by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

full

We have exclusive and approved access to hunt in different Caprivi concessions from a main central camp. You will be supported by trained staff that attend to your accommodation and hunting needs. Safaris are scheduled for a minimum of 7 days and offer elephant, cape buffalo, leopard, hippopotamus, crocodile, red lechwe and various other plains game species.

full
full

Up to four hunters can be accommodated by Jamy Traut Hunting Safaris at any time and observers are always welcome. Additional activities include bird shooting, fishing and unequaled wildlife photography. Even though the Caprivi is a wild landscape, both commercial flights and charter air services minimize the time required for ground transportation. This also expedites relocation to the Kalahari, Kaokoland or Panorama camps where many additional species are available. Given the limited number of trophy permits available each year, it is advisable to book a Caprivi safari well in advance.

Koakaland

full

Home of the Himba tribe, Kaokoland is one of the wildest and least populated areas in Namibia. It is a world of breathtaking mountain scenery, home of the rare desert dwelling elephant and midnight awakenings by the notorious lion prides. Jamy Traut Hunting Safaris has access to over an incredible 1 million acres of hunting ground, which is the largest continuous hunting area in Namibia. Kaokoland offers the opportunity to hunt huge springbok, along with eland, mountain zebra, gemsbok (oryx), kudu, steenbok, klipspringer, black-faced impala and giraffe.

full
full

The area also offers elephant, leopard and lion. Safaris are scheduled for a minimum of 7 days. Our luxury tented camp is situated on the bank of a riverbed and can host up to four hunters at any time and observers are always welcome.

full

Kaokoland can be combined with Caprivi and Panorama hunts. Given the limited number of trophy permits for lion, elephant and leopard available each year, it is advisable to book a Kaokoland safari in advance.

Etosha is one of the finest game reserves to be found in Southern Africa with more than 100 mammal species and 300 bird species to be found in the park. Etosha’s charm lies in its ability to bring the animals to you. Just park your car next to one of the many water holes, then wait and watch while a host of animals – lions, elephants, springboks, gemsboks to name a few – come not two by two but by the hundreds

Fishing Trips

Fishing.jpg

Namibia is a hotspot for anglers with thousands of fishermen flocking to the coast in search of something for the record books. Whether it’s fishing along the Namib coast for sharks, cob and various other species or fishing for the mighty tigerfish in the Zambezi region, it is truly a magnificent experience.

Victoria Falls

Victoria-Falls.jpg

Victoria Falls is among the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. The Victoria Falls offers breath-taking views that are almost too spectacular and majestic to describe. Day trips or overnight trips into Zimbabwe is available.

Swakopmund

Swakopmund.jpg

Where the Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert meet you’ll find the old, historic German town. Enjoy the beautiful sunsets, fine dining and spectacular views along the coast. Scenic flights, quad biking into the dunes, dolphin cruises, shark catching or surf/boat fishing trips and nature trips into the Namib Desert, are but a few activities offered along the coast.

Sossusvlei.jpg

Sossusvlei is in Namib-Naukluft Park in South-Western Namibia characterised by the large, breathtaking red dunes that surround it. Sossusvlei is a large, white, salt and clay pan and a great destination all year round. Caprivi.jpg

National Parks found in the Caprivi Strip are Bwabwata National Park, Mudumu National Park and Nkasa Rupara National Park. The area is rich in wildlife and expect to see an abundance of game. Fish River Canyon

Fish-River-Canyon-View.jpg

This is the second largest canyon in the world after the well-known Grand Canyon. The immensity of this magnificent landscape is truly breathtaking and astonishing. The towering rock faces and deep ravines were formed by water erosion and the collapse of the valley due to movements in the earth’s crust over 500 million years ago. The environment of this spectacular scenery embraces a number of habitats bringing together several species of mammals, an abundance of reptiles, insects and fish that live in natural pools and the Fish River itself.

Damaraland

Damaraland.jpg

Home of the Himba tribe in Damaraland lives one of only two populations of desert elephants in the world. Numbering fewer than 2,000, these are the tallest elephants in the world. Damaraland is also home to the elusive and endangered black rhino which is a must see. Both these species are favourite subjects of our photographic safaris to capture that perfect moment. Damaraland also has a World Heritage site called Twyfelfontein, with Bushman art that dates to 25,000 years ago, and Namibia’s tallest mountain, the Brandberg.
