Hi All -

This forum was a huge help in preparing for a recent trip to RSA where I was able to squeeze in some bird hunting and a PG hunt in the Northern Cape around visiting friends and general tourism with the family.

We are already planning a return trip in 2020 which will likely include 5-7 days of PG hunting and perhaps chasing a few birds too.

Jeff75 welcome to the forum! It sounds like you are hooked on Africa? Welcome to the addiction!

Yeah, definitely addicted. And if I wasn't, my two boys sure are. Plus with friends in RSA, I suspect we'll be going back every couple years. This site has been a huge help on the hunting front!

Giday and welcome to the A H forums @Jeff75

Welcome to AH, Jeff!

Welcome to AH. Nice trophies. Glad you’re going back.

Welcome to AH!

Welcome to our forum Jeff! Sounds like a good deal to have friends/family there in addition to your hunting.

Welcome aboard Jeff75. How old are your boys? Providing they are capable, a "cull" hunt might be appropriate for them. There are a number of AH Sponsor / Outfitters that have made similar accommodations in the past. Glad to have you on the posting side.

Culls? I wish. :) The boys are 10 and 8 and shot a trophy black springbok and bontebok (sigh - $$ and a hassle to import) this year. I'm putting together a youth sized savage .243 right now and hope to keep them to common springbok, impala, blesbok, warthog as far as trophies go next year. On the call side, we were introduced to a charity (helpjag.co.za) that uses game meat to provide nutritious lunches to 80+ preschools around RSA. So will probably add 2-3 days of cull/biltong hunting onto the trip next year and donate the meat.

I had a 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser cut down for use by my grandkids. My almost 9 year old grandson is using it now. His last three shots at 100 yds. were 2 X(es) and a 10.

Hi Jeff, welcome to AH !

Welcome to the family and the forum Jeff, you are in the right place!
Nothing like AH for information and getting people on their way to Africa.

We are already planning a return trip in 2020 which will likely include 5-7 days of PG hunting and perhaps chasing a few birds too.

We would be happy to assist you in anyway possible.

Welcome to AH and the posting side Jeff! This forum has a wealth of information from some extremely knowledgeable folks, enjoy!
