Good day to everyone.

As you might have heard a fellow South African PH called FC Prinsloo was hit by a Cape Buffalo in the Makuya concession in the North Eastern Limpopo Province bordering the Makuleke and Kruger National Park.

For those who do not know about the incident, this is shortly what happened...

FC and his Outfitter left their clients at a lookout spot in the Makuya concession next to the Mutale river and went looking for fresh elephant sign.

FC and the Outfitter split up to cover more ground, each with a reserve ranger and FC had one of the trackers with him as well.

A Cape Buffalo charged FC out of a thick bush, later it was determined that the buffalo was injured after being caught in a wire snare set by poachers.

FC shot at the bull at a distance of 2 meters but the bull was to close and hit him whereafter he pinned FC down on the ground with his bosses, the buffalo was on top of FC for about 2 minutes. The tracker was able to call the outfitter on the radio to inform him of the incident and guide him to the scene.

FC sustained serious injuries and was airlifted out of the concession to a waiting ambulance from where he was moved to the Musina hospital to stabilize him and then transfer him to Polokwane hospital by helicopter.

FC went into surgery around 17:30 yesterday afternoon and was in the theater until 02:00 the next morning. He was moved to ICU and is currently on a ventilator.

The problem is that as FC does not have a medical aid he is currently being treated in a state hospital. We are trying to raise funds to get him transferred to a private medical facility in Polokwane where he will receive the best possible care.

If you would like to make a financial donation to help FC @PHASA (Professional Hunters' Association of South Africa) has set up a PayPal account to do so or you can also send directly to @PHASA.

Thank you for doing this @Gerhard. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery. Thank you to all who have generously given, intend to give and for all of the thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for helping out again Jerome.

Wishing FC a speedy recovery.

Any update on his progress?

I guess the best person to reply would be Gerhard ! He seems to have a close connection .

Good day all,

My apologies for only responding now,

I have been busy hunting since my last post about FC.

The latest update (19 August 2019) I have on FC is as follows:
FC is still in the Polokwane hospital.
FC is still under sedation.
The bleeding is under control.
Infection is a very real risk that the medical staff is working hard to make sure they keep it under control.
FC has a fever due to the blood transfusion.
He is still on a ventilator due to the chest injuries but his lungs are doing well.
It will take quite some time for the broken ribs to mend properly and will be a source of discomfort for some time.
The CPR score keeps changing and he will only be moved to a private medical facility once the CPR score and oxygen levels are stable.

The doctors will keep his wife updated.

The family has requested to keep him in your prayers and also have thanked each and everyone that has helped in their own way to support FC.

Once I get more information I will update you.

Regards,
