They are a very large mount. Bigger than I had imagined once I got him out of the crate. He weighs 49lbs. That’s fun to carry up a ladder!
That’s what it’s all about, remembering those great trips and days in the field.

Yes sir, I don’t think it shrunk much if at all. All of us that were on the trip have done a little measuring as we hang stuff this week. It’s all a little under what the estimates were 2 years ago. I assume that is very normal for a bunch of rookies.All mine shrank. They were all in the top 10 SCI when I shot them, but are just good examples of each species now!
Just kidding! But IME they do shrink. Living in Colorado, an extremely dry climate, they have some shrinkage for a while, then seem to stabilize. That said my koedoe didn’t shrink 3”. Maybe 1” max. My mule deer and elk have also shrunk a bit.
No big deal. They were all hard earned beauties! You did well on that one for sure!
And I think it is another great reason to not have a tape in camp. All those animals were and are outstanding trophies to us and they are great memories and beautiful mounts, inches be damned.
+1 I’m there for the hunt of a good example trophy, but the hunt is the real trophy IMO. At my age just being able to hunt is awesome!
