Sako issues

Maybe contact Sako direct in Finland

doc,
you shouldn't have to.
also that would not alter their model of cheapening their designs and function.
right now tikka already has a name for being a cheap rifle, but better than sako.
you can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but sako is still trying to fool all of the people all of the time.

It saddens me to hear that Saco has reduced their quality to this extent. I have four older Saco(s) two from the 1960s in '06 and two from the 1990s one in 300 WM the other in 270. All four are good, accurate rifles. I read an article a while back that stated because of the "great recession" back in 2008 that many gun manufacturers began producing lower quality rifles just to stay in business.

Earle, I have a pile of bolt action rifles, and some would say I am a threat and need a raid on my house, but Sako rifles have been with me for years and performed. My .300 Win Mag and .338 Win mags have piled up some elk and my 7mm rem mag has taken animals around the globe. To your point, I had a Sauer 202 and the spring behind/inside the magazine release button found its way OUT and it took me forever to find a replacement and get it fixed, by New England Custom Gun. With no tension on that mag release button, the magazine would not stay put. Things can happen with any firearm. Enjoy them, and use part of these discussions to justify buying new ones. I have a .416 Rigby, but other than feeling better, perhaps.., it hasn't done anything that my .375s can't do.

I had the same issue with a synthetic stock Sako in 270 Win. Tried numerous calls to the factory/new magazines but never found a 100% solution. After resorting to duct tape to secure the mag on a mule deer hunt, I finally gave up and traded to a large Beretta dealer. Told him about the issue though I think he considered it operator error. Love my older, standard-type floorplate Sako’s and detach mag Tikka's, but the detachable mag Sako’s aren’t ready for prime time based on my experience. I suspect you may be better off finding another home for it and moving on.
