How are owners liking them? Heard there may have been a recall on some? How are they shooting for you guys? Any issues with them? TIA. o_O Yes, Thanks in Advance and This is Africa.:rolleyes::D

Ses, mine was recalled one week after I bought it. Sent it back in through the dealer, and had it back in two weeks. Since I had other things going on, I didn't find a scope and zero it until two weeks ago. I found a used
Zeiss 3x9x36 German made, had it mounted then fired a box at the range. It is more than adequate to hunt with now, but once I get back to the range, I will work with it (practice) and get it tighter. I am shooting Norma 286 grain Oryx factory ammo.

What were the issues they were recalled for?
Hi Mike, Don't recall just now. It was back in February. I believe it was related to the trigger and firing pin. Will contact the dealer Monday and find out.

Some where assembled with a part that is not up to specifications...

Just found my packing slip/invoice where Ruger sent the rifle back to my dealer after the "repair".
UPDATED SEAR AND FIRING PIN SPRING
CONDUCT SAFETY FUNCTION CHECK, RANGE TEST AND CLEANING

Now we know. Only guessing that was the reason all were recalled.

Hope more guys will post on their rifles. I had one of the earlier rifles before this run in this cal and it had chamber issues, as in it would misfire with factory ammo due to a long chamber. I sent it back to Ruger, they sent it back, all good right? Nope, still did it occasionally. I dumped it.

Same as @sierraone, new sear and firing pin spring

How does it shoot? No issues?

Have yet to fire it unfortunately - been too busy with work and prepping my 404 Jeff for a hunt

And it's too darn hot in west Texas this time of year to spend much time at the range.

RUGER C/S - said that the Dealer had already sent the rifle back for refit. Haven't seen any documentation on it.

As for the weather?

Unless I can get up in the hills, will probably mount the scope and make one range trip for a function check - and then wait for a Fall for marksmanship and load development.

Guess I missed it in a previous post....which .404J did you end up buying?

Just mounted a Leupold VX-1 2-7x33mm (Wide Duplex) on Low/medium (#3/#4) Ruger rings.

Weighs ~ 9 lbs w/ sling.

Sorry, missed this somehow! I ended up buying a lightly used CZ from a gentleman on here.

9.3 is a very good caliber. From what l have read , some places in Africa allow it for Cape Buffalo.
They should. Ballistics come close to the venerable .375 HH Magnum

I've got the Mauser M12 Max in 9.3x62 and LOVE it....highly recommend if you are looking for a light-weight bush gun with a punch...they are more expensive than the Ruger African, but not over the top expensive.
