Red stag SCI vs CIC

I apologise to the OP for hijacking his topic with this. Yes the water here is beautiful and in fact my wife and I are talking about chartering a boat here next summer. Be an interesting change for me from my usual offshore sailing trips and for my lady a nice easy way to start salt water boating. Last time I took her out we were sailing a racing boat back to Sydney beating into strong breeze for three days. She’s an outdoor enthusiast but her first words back on land were “I like concrete”...

Don't worry, I too am Croatian. But live in Canada. So I love the conversation. And Plus Mark has literally answered every question anyone could possibly have about hunting in Croatia. Croatiahunting.com forum??? anyone ??? anyone ??? lol

This thread started as I was looking to hunt Stag in Croatia, so ironic Mark showed up with his wealth of knowledge.

Well, there is such forum, but it does not work like this one. Because, in Croatia 99 percent of hunting is within local clubs. There are no proffesional outfitters, but mainly hunting agents who communicate and cooperate with local clubs. There is also minor percentage of commercial private hunting areas, under concession and owners usually operate with local hu tunting agencies. There is also a big govt owned comany managing the forestry, and have great hunting areas. This company offers hunts directly on their web pages, and also through private agencies. Croatian hunting federation has few hunting areas and offers hunts as well.
Anyway, my suggestion to moderators to ammend the title and add in brackets word Croatia, if op will agree, of course.

I was thinking, to be honest, to make a separate thread and make hunting presentation of country of Croatia, but have problems if finding some time to do that....

This is also a Red stag from Poland,
Bronze medal

Great trophies! Congrats!

What would be awesome is if someone has a CIC score card filled out. And some pics of their stag to post. This would help us understand. Because it's hard to compare blank scoresheets. As I have no idea what the average skull weighs or skull length etc. So I don't know how much to assume.

Hope this helps. CIC bronze stag I shot a few years ago

I salivate over this stag every time I see the picture.

If you can get it down to medals, and even weight, then I found this to be very helpful. You can basically look at a set of antlers and say: "That stag will score 350 SCI." Looking at these examples, you can translate that into kg weights and medals, at least to some extent. I got this off an outfitters ad somewhere.

Just back from being measured yesterday, my largest wild U.K. stag on my own ground taken this rut, a beautiful beast, circa 8-9 years old. Larder weight 190kg, trophy weight 8.76kg, CIC 204.35 high silver. Shot approximately 50m from where @UKHunter took his stag above. Been some nice beasts off this ground.

Waidmannsheil @Ukstalker.375 ! That is a magnificent stag! Whereabouts in the UK did you take it? I have quite nice scottish stag I took 8 years ago or so, but it is nothing compared to this monster!

Well done!

Thank you! In Suffolk about a mile from my home….. I am quite fortunate!! I’ve managed the ground for 10 years now, some fantastic animals have come from here. Many medals but this is the best so far 10 years in the making.

Great stag, congrats :D Cheers:

For European red deer ( Cervus Elaphus L)

CIC point scoring:

Bronze medal: 170 CIC - 189.99 CIC
Silver Medal: 190 CIC - 209.99 CIC
Gold medal: 210 CIC and up.

The strongest trophy in my Country ever recorded was 261.81 CIC.

Commercial price goes exponentially up, on top level trophy CIC points.

On economic scale "best buy" red deer should be in the level of 160 to 180 CIC points, where the trophy is not extremely strong, but it looks at least like "deer"... 8 or ten pointers with nicely developed antlers.

To give a clue of pricing, in my country, here is example on average trophy fees, other expenses excluded:

140 CIC - 810 EUR
150 CIC - 945 EUR
160 CIC - 1081 EUR
170 CIC - 1351 EUR
180 CIC - 1891 EUR
190 CIC - 2567 EUR
200 CIC - 3378 EUR (This is already price of average PG safari in namibia or RSA!!!)
210 CIC - 4324 EUR
220 CIC - 5675 EUR
230 CIC - 8378 EUR (above 230 CIC, every additional CIC point costs - 675 Eur)

Usually venison, trophy preparation - scull whitening, guide, lodging, rifle rental, etc - is not included in above price. This is only trophy fee.

I know for the cases where for the strongest trophies, full packaged prices have been in level between 20 to 30 k EUR.

If every CIC point above 230 cic is 675 EUR,
then as per this price list 260 CIC point buck would be 8738 EUR + 20,250 EUR = 28,988 EUR, only for trophy fee.

Then, when I imagine Africa... and 30k plus budget, imagine what I could get there for that money....
And people complain when size on elephant or buffalo or kudu goes up depending on measurement or weight......675 EUR for 1 point above 230 CIC....I quess the quide or ph has a real sharp eye. ....
So the unfortuante winner of the 261 deerpaid a 20925EUR premium over and above all the rest...WOW..it is great to be a African.....

Don't worry, we complain about this system here too :D
