Any experience? I live and hunt in Alaska and I’m thinking of trying bullet during the upcoming Moose season

A mate of mine used them on Blue wildebeest and I think they are excellent for big animals

I have great confidence in Woodleigh bullets of course. I can’t seem to find what makes the “Heavy Duty” bullet, heavy duty.

the 270 gn Woodleigh 375 could be called l.d.
I witnessed my friend shoot one into the back of a camel's head at about 10 yards, and it stayed in.
for any serious work with Woodleigh, the h.d might be preferred.

Have used the HD lots on buffalo. Thicker jacket.
That’s what I thought, but it’s always good to speak to someone with actual knowledge of the subject.
I’m sure I’ll load some up to see if my Mdl 70 likes them.

Any suggestions on load data?

I haven't handloaded but l used Kynoch 300 grain round nosed solid FMJ factory loaded cartridges on Australian Water buffalo. I understand that Kynoch uses Woodleigh bullets exclusively. They worked on the buffalo really well. I used two shots to take down mine. Heart shot and lung shot. Upon butchering the animal , l found that the shot through its shoulder , broke the shoulder bone , but didn't reach the heart. It got distorted . The lung shot worked very well and that's what killed the brute.

Hoss,

Do you, or do you not believe that there should have been geeater penatration from both the rounds you fired?

Von , to be honest l didn't really think of it in terms of penetration at the time . I was just happy l bagged that Water buff. Now that l think about it , penetration was very average . Nothing worth complaining about . Nothing worth bragging about. I wouldn't try a heart shot on a Buffalo with it anymore . Lung shot , l have no hesitation to try . That's not to say Kynoch bullets are bad. I have seen a Double .470 Nitro Express loaded with Kynoch Solids being used for heart shots on Water Buffalo with great success. I would say that Kynoch round nosed full patch solids in the .375 HH Magnum Caliber are a marginal choice for the shoulder shot on water Buffalo.

How would you classify the 375H&H PH Norma ammo loaded with 350 grain Woodleigh FMJ and Soft Nose?
Heavy duty and good for Buffalo or light duty?

It was my understanding that these were designed to reproduce the old Kynoch ammo.
Have I been mislead?

It would be misleading for me to tell you anything l am not sure about . In my .375 HH Magnum Winchester Model 70 , l predominantly use Winchester Nosler Solids 300 grain , Kynoch 300 grain round nose full patch , Kynoch 300 grain soft nose and Winchester Silvertips when l find some ( my personal favorite expanding bullets , but sadly they are rather hard to come by ). I don't handload ( though l hope to learn some day ) . But from my experience with Kynoch Solids , Woodleigh bullets loaded in Norma ammo PROBABLY would be similar to the Kynoch load. I am really sorry l couldn't give a more helpful reply. I can answer anything about Kynoch :)
P.S : I did get some meplat FMJ and Monolithic solids for my .375 , but l haven't tested them on game yet

By the way , Kynoch never originally offered a 350 grainer. The largest was 300 , if l am not mistaken.
But a 350 grainer MIGHT possibly have reached that buff's heart. I have heard rumors though , of Norma ammunition with heavier bullets tends to be slightly downloaded. How accurate that rumor is , is anybody's guess.

hoss,
au contraire.
thank you for the observation.
we can only benefit from the experience of others.

A good friend of mine hammers buffalo with the Woodleigh 350 grain softs. But I’ve had so much success with the Woodleigh 300 grain HD softs and the 300 grain solids that that’s what I’ll stick with if I get hold of another .375H&H.

I'm not familiar with the term "full patch" as it refers to modern smokeless powder bullets.
Can you please explain?
