Swedish Mauser 6.5x55 Carl Gustafson action, is it good? What caliber build?

If there are any Swedish citizens on this forum that will be able to assist me to permanent import a original 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser I really would greatly appreciate it. It is not difficult to permanent import from South Africa as a private person. I can get all the documentation and import documentation in order ....I am just not versed about the laws from Sweden or Finland ??
I really would appreciate this very much...(y)(y)

Good, I had time today to do some in-letting of the magazine box and bottom metal. This is quite a tedious process since I try to fit the metal to wood as near as possible..if gaps do happen it will be correct by the bedding process..I nearly completed the whole in-letting process of this rifle..here are some photos of the process and work I did today...

There is still a lot of work to be done, this part of the project usually takes more time to get good results. I am thinking of pillar bedding as well as full bedding the action and barrel ,,,the barrel needs to be full floating as well..it seems the wood has really nice grain..this will show up when I start finishing the rifle stock..the barrel will be here shortly..then I really can work to complete this project...
The next phase will commence with reaming a chamber and do the head spacing ...the 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser I am currently building will as you can see be a classic build...

I decided to do a 6.5 x 68 S rifle build on a chassis system...it will be a barrel burner caliber , but would be devastating on longer ranges for hunting large body animals as well as shooting ghongs..this chassis project will commence when I completed the 8x68S rifle build( just after the 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser project is completed....after the 8x68S build is completed I really want to try my hand on a side x side shotgun conversion build double in a 45-70 Government build ,,,..this is a project I am contemplating for the past five years already..I have a 16 ga side x side shot gun with a strong action available for this project..:A Banana::A Banana::A Big Hello:

Good, members, I received the 6.5 caliber barrel /Minox scope and reamer from Dave West today. I really want to thank Dave West /Butch Lambert and Tony Byrd again for their effort and time they spend to get me these great items....I really appreciate this very, very much guys...I hope to return this favor in the near future...here are some photos:
The Shilen barrel is 28 inches long...
The Minox rifle scope looks and feels /adjust great..the glasses are extremely clear..the 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser reamer from Pacific Tool/Gauge is looking great..here are some photos:

Not too much longer and you'll have it ready for a test run.

Shootist, good to hear from you, yes, I will be working on the rifle this week, currently busy fitting a new "antique" kitchen in my home..this keep me busy , I will complete phase one this week...usually I use my Saturdays to work in the gunsmith shop, working on my own builds...
I recently worked with Olive wood/Olien as we know it, one of the indigenous woods here in South Africa in the bush-veld regions..

I am currently cutting Olien hout to use for lamps and features to display some of my knifes. Today I cut a great piece of beautiful indigenous wood to use as a meat /food processing surface in my newly antique build kitchen...here is something a person do not see every day..this type of quality wood is not seen every day..

A beautiful piece of wood. Will you leave the outside of the block as it is Gert and how will that effect any food contamination clean up

I will leave the block as is..finishing is with a vegetable oil. We used the same wood in the camp without any problems..(y)(y)(y)

Is this the wood, you cut in the 1884 camp?

Georg, it is a old tree that Willie previously cut..I just cut the part that was left..

Wood with finest grain is in the stump.

Have you ever thought about to dig it up?

I am working on it..I want to dig it up, but it will take more than three days:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Take it from me, a hydraulic excavator is a much better tool than a shovel used with crowbar, spade and axe!
ZG47, I agree, the problem is that this farm is deep in the mountains, far from any one with a hydraulic excavator or even a tractor...the only method will be to take two labours with me to dig it up , clean it, cut it and make a brilliant glass bedded table top with it...(y)(y)(y)

Good, I completed the meat chopping block for my kitchen, the second sanding sealer layer is already sprayed on...I rounded the sharp edges , counted the growth rings , summer and winter rings adds up to 91 years of age...here are some photos..tomorrow this great piece of wood will receive it`s first interior varnish, high gloss coat...

@Gert Odendaal Glass-bedded table top? Do you mean to cut a hole in a slab of olive wood OR are you going to use four or more pieces of olive wood to frame a piece of glass?

If you are going to use a single piece, with glass in the centre, you have to cut the hole in the centre first (initially undersized) to allow for the timber to move where it wants to go. If you do the hole last ... the result will be less than good!

No, am going to cut a thin piece of laminated glass the same form as the wood and cover the wood with it, will ensure easier cleaning process after work has been done on the block..like cutting vegetables and meat..
