.375H&H or .458 WM which should I keep

@PaulT Numbers depend on what the property want. I’m aware of some areas with them.
I’m all for humane destruction. If someone said cull them numbers count. I still like to see bang flop. That is satisfying to do it well.
I should collect that .375H&H I bought, tomorrow I hope. And test with some factory you loads shortly after
If there were a number of camels to be dropped it’s a chance. to utilise it and do what needs to be done.
I’m going to start a thread on eating camel tonight. Not that I’ve ever done it. Sorry I did buy a bag of Camel Jerky in Alice Springs, a bit dry. My mrs will jerky some I’m sure.

The place I hunted on wanted them gone so it was a numbers game, still want one shot drops.

I wouldn't know. I'm new to this AH forum. This isn't probably the right "thread" topic, but like I said I'm new. I have shot elk with my Browning A Bolt .338 Win Mag. for many years. A couple of months ago, I bought an Interarms Whitworth Safari in .375 h and h in like new condition and I love it! I've never owned a CRF rifle before, but I have always wanted one. However, it's recoil is like my .338, so now I'm wondering if it would be sufficient for an Africa hunting trip? The elk I've shot with the .338 didn't complain, but the .375 for something larger? I haven't hunted in Africa yet, so I guess I'm just stupid for even opening this up. NOW, I'm thinking a .416 or .458 just based on the limited recoil from the .375? Any responses for my stupid but real observations on recoil?

Save your shoulder and go with the 375HH. It will do just as well as the others and you have a variety of bullets to choose from. Loaded right it will take anything that walks on the planet.

Well too late! I bought a CZ .458WM. With a Limbsaver recoil pad and 450gr Barnes TSX, the recoil isn’t that bad. Not much more (if any) than the .375 without the Limbsaver. But my .375 rifle IS a little lighter. Anyway, some of those guys here on AH from Australia talked me into the .458. I guess they hunt buffalo and camels with it.

I hunt camels with a 9.3x64 brenneke and swift bullets.
bruce.
x64? That’s as rare as “toads with teeth” here in the states. Looks like a great cartridge though. Anyway, what do/would you use for Australian buffalo? There was at least one guy here with photos (I can’t find that post though) who used a .458WM?

I would use one of the following, 35Sambar, 358RUM 375H&H or my 416Rigby all using Woodleigh Hydrostatic bullets.
I wouldn't hesitate to use the 9.3X64 if I had one.

So MANY cartridges, so little time! Ha! Ha! In large (or larger) bores, I only have a .338WM, .375 H & H, and my recently acquired .458WM. I DO really enjoy shooting all of them, but really like the heavier (hefty) .375 and .458 CRF rifles, as opposed to my lighter Browning .338. But, time will tell when elk hunting with one of them while carrying my backpack at 8,500 ft elevation, just to try hunting with something different.

Easy keep the 375 then re-chamber the 458 to 458 Lott, or get rid of the 458 and get a 404 Jeffery ;)

OR, re-chamber it to a .465 H & H, as soon as someone here on AH (or anywhere) provides a photo of a case/cartridge to prove it exists. Been asking here for months! Ha! Ha!
