I saw this on Facebook yesterday, I don't know the hunter or whose photos they are so apologies for not being able to give credit to either but this is too good not to share......

Wow amazing that that ram made it to adulthood with such a deformity!

Amazing, never seen anything like it !

Tenacity for life is amazing!

Looks like it was caught in a snare for some time.

Apparently a bald ring around the neck is common with Bushbuck as it's where the tips of the horns rub.....
I had to Google it because I've never seen one but there are many bald necked Bushbucks around!

Mine has a pretty bald neck. This was one sad looking critter. He does appear to have survived quite a while!

Poor thing. I hope he wasn't in pain. I think that bullet did him justice.

Some sort of stem-cell related cancer or abnormality. I can't remember the name of it, but its the one where things like teeth grow in your body cavity, etc. This one appears to be horn cells. It doesn't look like abnormal growth due to an injury, especially since the two horns are typical and symmetric.

Thanks for sharing.

It’s an interesting animal for sure. Could be a teratoma.

WOW that poor thing lived a difficult life!

That Bushbuck may be happy that someone put it out of its misery. That has to be painful.

I shot him last week on an island in the Limpopo River from the Botswana side. His horns was just under 17 inches and he was in good condition.
I did not take home the trophy to sweden as it is quite unique, it is still on the farm were it belongs.

Crazy!

Did he have front legs? They seem missing in the photos, and he appears to have been weight bearing on his face, hence the keratin growth.

Fascinating. Tough animal.

I once shot a huge old bull buffalo with three-and-a-half legs - his rear right leg stopped at the knee and a deformed hoof was growing out of it.

Wow! Thanks for putting him down. Must have been a tough life for him
