I am selling my W. J. Jeffery double rifle chambered in 450 NE No2. The rifle comes leather cased with two 26 inch barrels both chambered in 450 NE No2. The original Jeffery barrels have very good bores and the second set of Austrian barrels look even better. I have never shot the Austrian made barrels but the original Jeffery barrels shoot well. The rifle is a boxlock auto safety with ejectors. The rifle weights about 11 pounds and 14 ounces. The LOP is 14 5/8 inches. Rifle dies, 50 cases, and shell holder come with the rifle. If you have real interest please PM me so we can talk price and I will be very reasonable.

Mmmmmm. Wonderful!

Beautiful!

What a desirable old rifle! Sadly it will be boing to a fellow with a wallet much thicker than mine.

Don,

I purchased the rifle from a friend and he bought the rifle from First Stop Gun in Rapid City, SD He was told the second set of barrels were made in the 1960's and it was originally chambered to 458 Winchester magnum. The chamber was later changed to match the 450 NE No2 when ammo became available once more. I have my doubts about this. I would think the belted 458 would not make it possible to re-chamber to 450 NE No2. The 2nd barrels have no marking to indicate it started life as a 458 Win mag either. I am not a gunsmith so I can only speculate.

I have only used the original Jeffery barrels and there is plenty of rifling left on these barrels. I could understand if the original barrels were shot out and a new set barrels were made to replace the originals but that is not the case. So I do not have the answer to your question.

Wonderful rifle and a real opportunity at a British rifle with all of the fixins. Anyone interested please get ahold of this guy. It won’t last long, it’s the real deal.

I would love to own that rifle, but! On the second set of bbls. the gun shops answer about them re barreling to .458 does not seem to make much sense since it would require changing the extractors/ejectors. One question how does it regulate with the original and with the later barrels? It is not a good explanation why there might be a second set of bbls., but people do strange things!

It is a really nice rifle - unfortunately I have no idea what a realistic offer/price would be.

Champlin Firearms has a Jeffrey double in the 475 NE No2 for 19,500. This is a nice double but it only has a game scene and no border engraving. I am sure the price on that rifle could be negotiated down some, but do not know how much. You can judge for yourself, which of the two rifles is nicer double. The 450 NE No2 has an advantage over the 475 NE No2 in that the .458 bullet diameter is easy to obtain. I will part with the rifle, dies, about 40 pieces of brass, and a few loaded rounds for 17k plus shipping.

I have explained to those that have inquired I will take the rifle to Bolsa Gunsmithing in Westminster,California so the perspective buying can contact them directly for questions about the rifles condition. If the potential buyer than wishes to purchases the rifle I would ask for payment. I am not an FFL holder so Bolsa Gunsmithing will ship the rifle to the buyers local FFL dealer. Once I have received payment and Bolsa Gunsmithing receives your agents FFL the rifle will ship.
