Does anyone have any knowledge about this gun? I love AyA shotguns and so I was looking at their double rifles too. I contacted them and they said they could make one in .303 British which has always been a dream double rifle for me. I think it would be perfect for boar.

A 303 double would be excellent!

A .303 double is a beautiful thing. And Aya is a very good traditional shotgun maker. Would make a lovely plains game rifle . But make sure to tell them what load (s) you want it regulated for. Double rifles have a habit of both barrels shooting to the point of impact with one brand of ammo , but shooting inconsistently with other loads .

I have heard nothing about their double rifles and I have seen none for sale used. If they are anything like their shotguns, then I know I will love it, but I really do not want to put down the money for one without at least some feedback about the guns. They do seem to be the only ones making a double in .303 anymore.

Purdey in England and Westley Richards also makes them . Also Anderson Wheeler

What do they want for the mono block?

As a many times over AyA owner, why would you want a $28000 AyA? It won’t be THAT good and used a 303 would be worth $6000 on a good day.

Hell, for $12,000-$15,000 you could buy the finest British 303 made in the golden era. Best grade smallbore double rifles are “cheap”, go get a magnificent one/

I love the AyAs and for a full custom build +20K is not unreasonable to me.

I have scoured the internet for a quality .303 double that is in hunting condition with modern ammo and I have yet to find one for under 25K. At that price, I would want one custom built with modern materials.

Actually, I was wrong. There are a good amount of .303 British and other small bore doubles online, though most are at a pretty high price. This is what I was able to find currently available for sale online:

Webley & Scott .280 Nitro -- $11950
Joseph Lang .300 H&H -- $42500
I. Hollis & Sons .303 British -- $29500
Holland & Holland Royal .303 British -- $39750
Beesley .303 British -- $12950
Holland & Holland Royal .303 British -- $35000
Alexander Henry .303 British -- $17900
Jeffrey .303 British -- $7500

I do think the .280 Flanged and .30R Blaser are cool rounds but it is really hard to beat the .303 British for old school British cool.

I am also looking at Anderson Wheeler as they currently make .303 British doubles, although I doubt they will do it for the price of the AyA.

In my mind, the benefit of buying new is getting a gun with proper stock fit, modern materials, and desired barrel length. While I have heard that there is no velocity gain for the .303 above say 25", I do think that a 28" version would be really cool.

Saul , last time l was in London in 2018 , Anderson Wheeler still had two double .303 rifles available second hand at the shop . It's worth asking them via email.

I sent an email to AW yesterday and I am waiting to hear back. While I think that AyA would make a great double, I have heard literally no opinions on it and owning an AW would be just that much cooler.

And one more thing. Tell them , that if possible , you want the one regulated for 200 gr loads . When l was last there , they had one regulated for 180 gr and one regulated for 200 gr .
