Thoughts on Kimber Caprivi .375

Do hunters still buy new 460 Weatherby's or used ones for that matter?

For Cape Buffalo and Grizzly the 375 H&H is probably an excellent choice.......

Of course it is! I am a great fan of the 375 H&H.......especially when people who know what they are talking about load and use it to it's maximum lethality.

I only offer my opinion on situations that I have personally experienced and will say that when attempting to kill anything that can be deadly my choice is the 458 over the 375 any day of the week on any continent.

My ultimate choice would be the 460 as it crushes whatever it hits.

I have yet to ever hear anyone who is in harms way curse the 460 and ask God to put a 375 in their hands instead.

Choose whatever suits your capabilities.

As long as you use a bullet that will hold up to the velocity! Or load it down to Lott level at low pressure.

I really like my Caprivi. Mine is chambered in 458 Lott. Little on the light side for a Lott but still not bad to shoot. Only problem I have is when I shoot with the express sights, I can’t get my fat face down without some trying. But with a scope it is perfect. It shoots well.

I just bought one today in 458 Lott, can't wait to get my hands on it. I was a little worried about the weight of this rifle too being chambered in 458 Lott but this caliber is pretty hard to come by in Australia so I didn't want to pass up the opportunity

My uncle and cousin both have this rifle. I love it. I have shot them a lot and used one in a DSC big bore shoot. Beautiful rifles that are easy and pleasant to shoot.

I have a Talkeetna in 375 and it groups 260 and 300 Noslers very well. Van Der Walt in his book on African rifles gives it a good review.

Does anyone know if Caprivi is still available in .4 calibers? I was told by a local distributor that they are no longer available in Europe in anything above 375.
The Australian distributor is now only showing the 375H&H as available as well. Kimber website still shows the 416 and 458 though.........

Looks to be a beautiful rifle

I’m still looking for one in 375HH. They are 8-12 weeks out at the factory. I asked my dealer if they would ask for a nice smoke and Carmel stock since they order by phone. The Kimber guy on the other end said you get what you get:rolleyes:

I thought that was kind of shitty considering what these things cost.

That’s a great attitude

He could have at least lied and pretended he was going to try :ROFLMAO:

Call corporate and explain that their customer service representative sucks. I was about 10 minutes away from flying to Kalispell Montana and stuffing a caprivi up someone’s ass after they ruined my stock. A couple of emails and a phone call later corrected the situation. The market on the Caprivi is pretty Niche and the minions at the lower level don’t quite understand that it isn’t a 1911 they are selling. Upper management is very receptive and gave me wonderful resolution

Yeah this is starting to sound more like the Kimber I know, usually Kimbers customer service has a fairly good reputation.

that’s sound advice I think I will take you up on if I order from the factory.

what do you guys think of the one on GB right now. The stock is kind of plain compared to some others I have seen and especially @Aussie_Hunter new one.....that’s got a nice stock by the way.

I have been lucky twice now when it comes to stocks, both my RSM and Caprivi have some of the nicest stocks I have seen on those rifles. You are looking at the 375H&H on GB? Item number 848926944? Yeah that one is a bit plain Jayne

Ha I do too! I have 2 rifles I’m looking at and will probably pull the trigger today.....see what I did there.

The Caprivi and an AHR 550 is what I have it narrowed down to.
You are lucky over there, spoiled for choices. I did a bit of reading on the AHR last week, I like the look of them.
