Like throwing red meat into a tank full of piranhas!

Yeah, I know, it's a Sabatti but, should the rifle go for something in the 3-5 thousand dollar range, it'd be a steal.

Not if it does not shoot....no matter the price...

I think a Kimber or a RSM in 458 Lott is a better deal.

It's one of the cabelas original Sabatti's...

It's at about maximum price for a gun that hasn't been worked over by Ken Owen at present. Not sure I'd put my life on the line with that gun, but it would be fine to plink with for <$3000 fully regulated and operational.

Do you know this by the serial number starting with "CAB..."
And why exactly is this not desirable?

Yes, and it's the batch ordered by Cabelas that were rushed they and not regulated correctly. Many had extensive muzzle damage and it resembles taking a dremel to the crown. A smith as mentioned above bought much of the remaining stock to correct these guns with issues and are now 'ok'. Its generally considered a gamble with any CAB prefix gun as you dont know what you will get....unless you can have adequate time before purchase to verify and test fire. Even then, they wont have a great resale value do to the stigma.
