One of the reasons why I initially supported Trump is because he said he would stand up to China. Instead, he became best buddies with Jinping and then launched and subsequently failed at a poorly planned trade war.

They also worry about destroying our way of life. What better way to bring them to their knees then forcing them to abide by the same environmental standards as the rest of the world.

Forcing them? Impossible. We are ADDICTED to cheap goods made by their quasi-slave labor work force. In the meantime, the U.S. debt grows as we try and maintain a lifestyle formerly supported by manufacturing and other offshored work.

Leveraging our debt against them would be a start.

There is an estimated 50 years remaining on the current world oil reserves.

When that runs out, as well as the coal and natural gas, the global warming crowd will be happy.

Fortunately, I will be dead long before that happens.

Changing the climate is pie in the sky and all the treaties, legislation, carbon taxes, money, effort and hope won't affect it one iota. In a world of seven and a half billion people, there are just too many competing interests. It's an imperfect world. Best to learn how to live with and in it. Anything else is a waste of human capital.

Unfortunately, you are probably right. If we had any hope of stopping global warming, it would have taken action at least 20 years ago. Still, that does not give us carte blanche to destroy the environment. Why is clean air, clean water, and protecting nature such a bad thing.

@Saul I dont think anyone is against those things. However, from reading the Paris Climate Accord and discussion on Carbon Credits, it became apparent that climate change was not the goal but the redistribution of money to less fortunate countries and to make sure early advocates became billionaires. Most of this was the USA footing the bill.

I would say that the US could stepped up and lead the way in improving the quality of life but it would cost tax payers billions and would not have the expected return on investment. This would just be another Avenue for fraud, waste and abuse.

While it may be unpopular, I personally believe that the Paris Climate Accord was orchestrated by China so that the United States would be at an economic disadvantage in the future. China's economy cannot function without foreign oil. The US has an obscene amount of oil reserves and fracking has given us access to cheaper oil than ever. If China were to get every nation to switch to alternate energy, they would be free of their foreign oil dependence, and all of the US oil would be completely worthless.

Al Gore, is a perfect example of this. He got rich off of his gobal warming spew. Much to his dismay(Lies), the polar ice cap didn't melt.

We all support a clean enviroment. Unfortunately, we have gone past the point of no return, in regards to the greenhouse effect.

Every country on the planet would have to do its part. Look at places like the Phillipines, and other third world type countries. They do not have the emission standards that we have in the USA. They don't take vehicles down for emission testing. China is worse. Ever see the picture s of people wearing the white filter masks because of the pollution?

Last time I was in RSA, I asked the farm owner, who had a little village on the property where the trackers and their families live, if they were cooking with propane or electric stoves. His answer was no, with wood, because that's the culture and tradition. Multiply that tens of millions of times just on the African continent. Is it possible to get those people to stop using wood? About the same chance as seeing a penguin living in South Florida.
Add in the deforestation in South America and other continents. The reason is pastureland. Hmm, now we're talking a huge increase in COW FARTS!

George Carlin made this fourteen years ago. All this wringing of hands about the planet was bullshit then and it's still bullshit now.

Not sure where you got the 50 years part, but Chesapeake Energy alone drilled and capped enough NG wells in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and New Mexico between about 2009 and 2014 to last at least 200 years at current rates of consumption and without any new discovery or drilling.

All of the crude oil ever pulled up out of the ground would fill somewhere between 1/3 and 2/5 of Lake Tahoe.

If there is to be an end to oil (which I disbelieve in any case), we are a very long ways away from it.

It was an article I saw on the internet. The calculations were based on reserves that are easily obtainable, and does not include any further exploration, or speculation, or fossil fuels that may be present, but difficult to extract.

The current oil demand, sits at approx 100 million barrels a day. They estimate that demand at 140 million a day by the year 2040.
Unless more oil reserves have been capped since the data came out last year, the calculations are not far off.

Or the data is inaccurate.

There is no global warming climate change. Go to wikileaks and read the emails fetched from a hack of the mail servers of the University of East Anglia in 2010 (I think, been a while since I looked at any of them). This is one of the biggest shakedowns in human history.

I don't belive in the Global warming sham.

President Trump should nominate Hillary Clinton for the Supreme Court. Then he can finally get her investigated.

The same media that told me Hillary Clinton had a 95% chance of winning is now telling me President Trump's ratings are low.

The Electoral College worked fine until Hillary Clinton lost. Now the Democrats want to abolish it.

Seems the Democrats are always trying to move the goalposts. Now Bernie Sanders is stumping for prisoners being allowed to vote from prison.

Don't forget about the push to get 16 yo's the franchise, too.

If you don't have a job or aren't retired or don't own property, you shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Global warming? Climate change? Misguided, the human race prefers to fight nature instead of adapting to it. Two geese have been migrating to my back yard for five years. They have adapted to life in the surburbs. This is one of them. It's taking a break after his breakfast corn. Mom is on the nest.

I may be a little hypocritical here because even though I am a hardcore environmentalist and conservationist, I will continue to drive V8s and V12s until they stop selling gas.

Seriously though, the EPA rollbacks for environmental protections like levels of lead and mercury allowable in water are downright scary.
