Good day to all AH members

Just a short update.
I have been out of hospital since the 15 of April.
So far everything has gone well, with a few minor issues here and there. On the 17th I had to go to the Dr's room for a quick checkup due to some pain in my chest. On arrival the Dr immediately did an EKG on my and picked up an uneven heart rate. I have been on meds ever since, it is still not 100% but I have faith that it will come right as time progress.

On the 25th I as back in Tzaneen for the first checkup after the surgery. Dr removed all the stitches on my chest/belly as well as those on my side where the Buffalo's horn stuck me. The one's in my knee have yet to be removed due to an unforeseen wound that has developed after some fluid leakage. I was refereed to a wound specialist in Louis Trichardt who immediately ordered device call Acti V.A.C.
The next day I was back and started the treatment.

Today was the first day after I got out of hospital that I felt bad, so most of the day was spent in bed.

I want to make use of this opportunity to thank you all once again for all the prayers well wishes, messages and emails that you have sent. a very special thanks to Brad Hempkins and the rest of the AH team for the fund raiser y'all started for me. Without you guys it would have been an uphill battle to get everyone sorted out.
I am extremely thankful for having all of you as a friend and brother in need.

Kind Regards and Blessing to all
Bossie Mostert

Glad to hear you are doing well. You are one of the fortunate ones to survive.
May the good lord keep looking down on you.

Thanks for the update, glad you are healing and hope things continue to improve

I am sure it is a long road with twists and turns, ups and downs.

I hope you gain enough strength to begin "doing stuff" that will help get you fully back in the game.

I'm happy to hear you are doing well. I know it will take a lot of work to get back 100% but you are above ground so everyday is a good one.

Thanks for the update. Keep a close eye on wounds that aren.t healing as they should. Infections can be very difficult to cure if left unattended.

This sort of wound trauma is what we typically see in combat casualties. No two are exactly the same, and recovery will be longer and harder than you want it to be. Critical is believing, better yet, knowing , that you will be completely well again - even if you may have to do a few things a little different than before. At this point the greatest physical danger is an infection. Stay on top of it - no one has a better understanding of how you are feeling and recovering than you do. If something doesn't seem right - go see the doctor. Any number of false alarms are better than letting something gain a foothold. Over the long haul, physical therapy will be the key. Stay after it - sometimes hard to do when not in a center where the professionals can make you do it. Always know that you have a lot of folks out here holding you in their prayers.

Glad to hear that you continue to improve. You definitely have the AH community behind you. There are also quite a few of us holding you up in prayer. I agree with your comments on Brad. We are very grateful that he provided a way In Which folks could rally to help.

Glad to hear that you are progressing along the road of recovery sir!

Bossie, keep your spirits up, sounds like you are on the mend. Your uneven heart rate sounds like A fib, which I had some time ago after returning from Zim.

I landed in the hospital twice with Pericarditis, which is inflamation of the sac around the heart. They said it was viral, but they never really figured out how I got it, but I had been traveling with a nasty sinus infection and it may have contributed. Anyway I had some A fib during that time but it went away after the main issue was taken care of.

The other side effect was an increase in something I have always had which is what we call PVC's, pre ventricular contractions, or extra heartbeat. Its usually considered benign and many people have it but dont really know it. I am one of those who feels his heart, every beat no matter what, even at rest. So when I started having hundreds of these PVC's all day every day I about went nuts, so have been on a med ever since to control them, it works. I still have some but its managable.

Hope you continue to heel up. Keep us posted on progress. Get well!

Great hear Bossie! I hope your recovery will be a fast one.

Always good to hear an update. Keep your spirits up. Remember there has to be a purpose for you to still be here on earth. It would of been so easy for this to of been more tragic. Do the PT. It will make a huge difference in the long run.
Bruce

Thanks for the positive update Bossie. Keep up the good work.

Stay strong, boet.
Keep us updated.

Bossie,

Appreciate you keeping us informed as the days pass after the incident, hang in there, your body is working hard on healing the wounds.

Listen to it and as others have said, when something isn’t right get to the Dr.

Your words and actions are an inspiration,

Edge

Fantastic to hear you are on the road to recovery. Best wishes for you as you continue to improve, keep us posted.

Thanks for giving the personal update! Great to see.

One step at a time my brother ! You're doing great.

Sir, you are vertical and mobile, the first step in recovery. Everything will fall into place in due course. Work at it but don't overdo it. A setback takes much longer to get over than slow steady progress. All the best to you.

Get well soon!
Philip

Thank you for keeping us updated. Your resilience is inspirational. I wish you a speedy recovery.
