After 116 years, the Mannlicher-Schoenauer M1903 still works fine.

6,5x54 Mannlicher-Schoenauer cartridge, 160gr Hornady soft point round nose, frontal chest shot, went down for good after 30 m.

Lovely animal and even more exquisite rifle. I know you have pleased a spirit somewhere. Waidmans Heil!

Waidmanns Dank, Red Leg

We are planing a "Mannlicher-Schoenauer hunt only", next year in South Africa.

Consider yourself invited,....

Very cool! Any other wins with the MS?

No, primarily, I was on a "black powder only" hunt, and the Mannlicher-Schoenauer was my emergency brake, in case that a real rifle was needed.

And fortunately, it happend.

I remember reading PH Terry Irwin’s book ‘memoirs of an Africa hunter’ where he had problems with straight magazines on DG and switched to a MS for the rest of his career. I don’t think many people shot more Dangerous Game than him.
At the other end of the scale my first ever rifle was a MS 22.250 which I took many roe deer and foxes with in Scotland.
Beautiful rifles, I dont think the Steyr Mannlichers are in the same league.

Terry Irwin's was an .458 Winchester-Magnum,.... the other end of the Mannlicher-Schoenauers.

On our next "Mannlicher-Schoenauer-Africa-trip", a .458 will accompany us,.... I hope so.

But any other MS's are welcome too…..

In Namibia 5 years ago I shot my first oryx with my Mannlicher. Off again in 6 hours for two weeks and looking forward to it as much as ever.

I had seen photos of them, but never handled one until a few weeks ago. I have never felt a more effortless action. It was as if it had been dipped in teflon because there was no friction.
It was for sale, and perhaps just one more gun ...

I would be interested in hearing more 6.5 x 54 experiences.

Great picture, Waidmanns Heil!!

It's a 6,5x54 Mannlicher-Schönauer also?

My first trip to SA I brought a Mannlicher-Schoenauer 1956 MC in .270. In the Karoo harvested a steenbok, duiker, impala, zebra and the kudu in my avatar with it using 150 grain partitions. Unfortunately, I slipped climbing one the rocky kopjes and broke the Pachmayr flip out scope mount and couldn't keep a zero after that - so used a borrowed rifle for the rest of my hunting.

Lovely rifle--don't believe I have seen a barrel front scope mount exactly like it. I have shot my MS on two safaris in cal. 30'06. Absolutely love these rifles. BTW, there is a Mannlicher Collectors Assoc.--they would probably like to hear from all of you, just google them up. Very helpful group for info on all mannlichers!
