Fundraiser for wounded PH Bossie Mostert

UPDATE:

I don't think I can attach audio to this thing, or I would.... So I'll have to type. This is a message Bossie recorded & sent:

"Hello Everyone, I don't know most of you. Probably most of you have never met me before, but we got to know each other through this accident that happened to me. I want to thank each & every one of you for all of your prayers & well wishes, and just being there for me & my family, for uplifting us, and keeping our faith in the right direction. Thank you for all the messages. I don't know where to start or where to end. I can't name anybody, so to each & everyone out there, and it's a whole lot more people that I even think there is. I want to thank you all, thank you for all of your love & all your caring. Bless you all. Bye-bye."

Take care~

Just read Bossie’s post on his Facebook page. Wonderful news on his improvements.

For those of us not on facebook, can someone copy it and post it here?

Let me see if my wife can cut/paste & send to me, and I will try. As I only have a FB business page. No personal page.

@rw mack Donation received!

Just to let everyone know the Bossie's fundraiser will be closing on April 15 so if you have it in your heart to donate a few dollars, anything helps, please do so by Monday. Thank you to those of you who have already generously opened your heart and wallet to help out a fellow hunter in need.

Thank you for those who are keeping Bossie in their thoughts and prayers, this means a lot to keep up his spirits and strength for the long road ahead.

Yes & thank you Jerome. We will be wrapping this up Monday & will be transferring funds to them (working on details now). Some of you have let me know that you would be mailing checks. Still waiting on a few. If I have not received them by Monday, I will communicate with you, capture the amount and cover that amount in the transfer so there is no delay.

I will also report back with details of efforts. Expect fewer & fewer updates specifically from me, as he has now been transferred to another ward, where he has access to communication. I am sure as he feels up to it he will post progress & updates.

Thank you all again!

Bossie just called me a bit ago. He is out of the ICU and feeling much better today! He sounded great, but choked up asking me to again thank everyone for their prayers and donations.

He told some of what happened and it made me choke up and sent chills up my spine, more because of his faith and experience than the actual attack. His experience reaffirms ones belief.

He got two shots into the bull as it charged, as many hunters in Africa do, as they have been taught from young on, he carries his gun bolt up or open, safety off. His 416 Rigby Ruger holds a standard 3 down, when he racked the 2nd shell out and went to push the 3rd in, the safety had engaged and it blocked the bolt from going forward. He sent a video of his good friend Hermann purposely re-creating this. I'm guessing all Ruger's with the 3 position safety di this but will check several of mine when I get home. (Sitting at a rest stop on I80 to type this)

His tracker was carrying a 375 and short strokes it and thus jammed the gun. Everyone ran away and the bull had Bossie down. At one point he felt the bull breathing in his face and opened an eye to see it's nose right there. He was praying "Dear Lord please don't let me die, DJ cannot grow up without a father so please keep me alive". At that point he heard a voice that said "crawl into that Bush and lie still". He did that and the bull jumped over the bush and ran off. At that point Bossie called everyone back. Hermann drove his Land Cruser in and they loaded Bossie and drove him to the hospital. Bossie has had a very strong faith as long as I have known him and he is convinced that he survived only by the Hand and Grace of God. He knows God came to his aid.

Hermann took his blood spoor dogs and several experienced PH's went back to finish the bull. They put the dogs on the track right where Bossie was attacked and the dogs flushed the bull straight away right out of the same thicket it had charged Bossie from. It was quickly dispatched at that point.

Thank Chris M!!! No AH Handle to reference

Jerome if you want that post in the other thread, please do move it. Bob
I think that it would be appropriate for your post to be in both threads, if you would please add it to the other thread, thank you.

Thanks for the update Bob. It is appreciated.

Nice to know some additional details. Have heard of CZ safeties locking on safe when running the bolt fast before, but not the Rugers.

Drive safe in that weather you have been getting up there.

Thank you Joseph T..... no AH Handle
