I have very little will power when it comes to guns

You are right it was a good deal and it just got better I called them today and they said that the sale prices would be honored until the end of April. I've been talking to some friends and it looks like I'll be making another road trip north shortly. How they can sell guns that shoot the way these do for such a low price is beyond me. I own several of them and they all shoot better then most of my pricier guns.
You know I think with the technology of today what used to require craftsmanship skills and hand fitting and expense now is common place. Look at today even a cheap gun today is built to the level what a good gun was built 30 years ago. You still see a lemon come out once in awhile but for the most part guns have gotten cheaper and reliable and plentiful over the years

To jump in one more time. I've seen some 1911s coming out of the Philippines that honestly look as nice if not better then some of my colts and kimbers i have. At 1/2 the price i paid. Im a traditionalist but to buy as a shooter or to trick out or keep as a truck gun. Id buy one

I have a Ruger American Predator in 6mm creedmoor and 223. I'm a fan! Good cheap fun. I am tempted to pick up a 308 predator and 300 BO Ranch we have at work in the used rack. Need to replenish the gun fund first though. Something really appealing about the Americans.

I have very little money when it comes to guns. Problem solved.

A friend of mine took after whitetail with a Ruger American in .450 Bushmaster this last year. He is quite pleased with the performance. Were I in the market for the same I'd not hesitate.

Money well “invested”!!!!

So over the weekend a friend and I ventured upstate to Grice Gun Shops anniversary sale. I had no intentions of buying a gun for myself all I wanted was to pick up some bullets and a couple pounds of powder and talk to the Ruger factory rep. Well it turns out that they had a special going on, Ruger American rifles in 270 Win. and 30-06 Sprg. with bronze colored stocks. The bronze stock really caught my eye, it just looked a lot more appealing to me then the standard black and green stocks that they have been pumping out. And they were priced right too $299.95. How could I not buy one? I mean I only have four 30-06's and one more couldn't hurt, right? And there was one more thing that made my purchase decision easier Larry Weishuhn was at the store and he graciously agreed to autograph my new gun. The whole experience just kind of fell into place, I felt as though it was no use fighting it, it was going to happen. And it turns out that I may need more guns down the road anyway, my son and daughter in law just informed my wife and I that we are going to be grandparents one more time this fall. Seems like I can get away with buying anything as long as it's for the grand kids.

I have to remember that one!

Sounds like a great visit to Clearfield. I spent a lot of time in Grice's over the years. I believe there are aliens in the area or maybe Clearfield is haunted. Somehow boxes with rifles in them mysteriously appeared in my truck. Gotta watch those dreaded receipts don't show up.

I learned a long time ago to make gun purchases there using my sons credit card, that really covers the paper trail.

@MS 9x56
When I saw the title I thought you had some tips to make me better looking.
The dip sure made your rifle look better but I don't think it would work on me.

@jduckhnter
Looks better than the black one.
Problem is I still don't like them after a person at the range bought one after he chambered the second round the bolt handle came off.
It was duly replaced with a brand new one. A lot better rifle the bolt handle didn't come off until he went to chambered the sixth round. It was in 243 so couldn't expect miracles.
The few shots he got out of it showed potential for accuracy but didn't even get the scope sighted in with either of them.
I know you get the occasional lemon but 2 in a row.

He bought a Savage after that.

Seeing that this is an old thread that has been resurrected it would be interesting to hear if jduckhnter has had to buy any more firearms due to grandkids ?
I have the same problem as him , also have little to no will power when it comes to good deals on firearms and knives .
I have two grandkids ( boy and a girl ) that I have had to buy firearms for already and I have another grandson on the way - so I will have to ensure he is provided for too .
When buying for small grandkids one is forced to buy a few different types of firearms as to ensure that all potential preferences of the kids can be catered for as they get older , it is also imperative that as a grandfather you need to shoot these firearms regularly to ensure they are in good technical condition and are well maintained , it can be time consuming and physically challenging at times , especially if they have to be tested under hunting conditions but this is what dedicated grandfathers do to contribute to the happiness of their grandkids .
