CT-Safaris Goes the Extra Mile for the Client

Most people on this forum know that I went on my first and probably last South African Safari in mid August 2011 with Chris Troskie of CT Safaris and due to medical conditions I was hindered from the start and although I had warned Chris at the booking stage he made sure my Safari was still a real success.

I was fortunate to take 10 wonderful trophies in all and typical of all good hunting adventures some were far harder to take than others. When walking is a problem, climbing hills on loose rocky ground or crossing flowing creeks makes for a very interesting personal challenge but Chris was always there and lending the odd arm or hand to complete a stalk but this next bit really came from left field and totally unexpected.

Well Chris Troskie is a member of P.H.A.S.A. which is a good reason for all prospective hunting clients to use but Chris must have decided at some stage that I deserved a surprise and after all our joint hard work and today, 11th April 2012 a package arrived at my home.

Now to digress slightly,

I knew that when Cecil Henning from Umlindi Taxidermy who I selected to do my Taxidermy, sent me by Email the S.C.I. measurements of the trophies that I took and said that I had 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze trophies and 4 were just under minimum scoring and you don't score a Zebra skin making the 10 trophies but gave little further thought to this outcome.

Well Chris Troskie as a P.H.A.S.A. member has the added advantage of being able to provide his clients with a Trophy Certificate and Medal depending on the S.C.I. score and can be one of the three mentioned categories above for a small fee.

Now back to the story, in this package I found a big Surprise unknown to me, Chris had entered some of my trophies with P.H.A.S.A. and the outcome was 3 Gold Medals and corresponding certificates to display along with my trophies when they arrive later in April. Chris didn't worry about the others, only the gold medal trophies.

Although there is normally a small fee attached to the Medals & Certificates I personally feel that this is a fitting tribute to what was a worthy adversary and now a wonderful trophy and want to thank Chris for this lovely surprise and a wonderful Safari, one I will never forget.

If you would also like to take advantage of this opportunity please give Chris Troskie of
CT-Safaris a call on +27 (0) 82 859-0771

Cheers for now,

Jeff Gray

Nice touch.

Congratulations again.

Sounds like Chris is a class act. It sure was nice of him to go to the extra effort to make the hunt memorable. I hope your health allows you to make another trip.

Great to hear ! Nobody can ever take memories away from you !

Great gesture by Chris.......I guess when you really think about it, the people that you share your experience with are a huge part of what really makes the hunt a special memory.

Agree, a great gesture on his part. An I am sure this is just a minor insight to the quality of Chris's character.

From all said and done Chris runs a great business.

This just put another rung in the ladder for other to reach.

Congrats on your Gold Chris going the axtra mile makes it all worthwild, Cecil is also the one that messured and mounted my trophies he does great work.

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank you all for the kind words and I am glad that you also appreciate the "Extra" mile that Chris went for a client. It is not often that this happens or in my case, never before and will give those additional memories of such a wonderful hunt. Although it was not really necessary, I have just ordered the 2 Silver Medals and should arrive in about a month.

Once they arrive I will post another photo of all the 5 Medal.

So until then,

Cheers for now,

Jeff Gray

I cant say I am suprised though, thats the kind of guy Chris is.

Nice customer appreciation from the heart.

A friend of mine is headed for his 3rd hunt with Chris in a couple of weeks. He must be doing something right!

I almost got to share camp with Denny for an evening but now it looks like he will be leaving on the flight I arrive on. Too bad I always like meeting interesting people.

A classy gesture for sure, very professional.

Well done Chris...

Jeff, thanks for this equally unexpected surprise (your posting this thread) and all the others who posted for their kind remarks. It is nice to see how the small things we do are appreciated to the extent that has become evident in this thread.

Good Hunting!

Hi Chris,

I am glad that you find the words and thoughts of others touching as not all men would admit this to themselves let alone others.

You are in an envious situation of making a living out of what you love to do and this shows by your actions. Each and every one of your clients both past and prospective will all have different expectations of you, the size of the game, accommodation, food etc but you seem to be able to sum up the situation and make the client feel as though you have been a friend for years.

Small things may seem insignificant to some but the older generation really appreciates them, I know I did, keep it up.

Good luck with this years hunts and hope all your clients have the success and fond memories that I have ,

Cheers for now,

Jeff Gray
