SOUTH AFRICA: AAA Serapa Goes Buck Wild 2018 Pt 1

Late Christmas!

Just found this report. Great report and congrats on that massive eland!

Just another reason to hate Delta. My crate arrived in Atl on Feb 6th and was transported by freight truck to Houston. Some time after landing in Atl Delta lost my paperwork. Everyone had copies of the CITIES and TOPS permits but USFW will only accept the originals. My crate had to go into “govt owned” storage at $11.75 per day while my importer worked to get the original permits reissued in SA. Well today it finally cleared and I was able to pick up. It appears all is here and in good shape. A further inspection will happen soon.

Ouch, 11.75 a day

Yes- it was very frustrating. My storage fees were $477 total with little recourse against Delta  Thankfully my Importer- Well World Wide out of Houston stayed on it and turned the new permits relatively quickly. If I had been doing my own importing and had to get try and get reissued original permits from SA I would have been really screwed. In this instance the Importer fee was worth it. When I was picking up my crate today the importer mentioned that Delta had lost several batches of paperwork recently and that the importer was told by the SA authorities they would no longer be reissuing permits as it was causing lots of extra work for them. Hopefully no one gets caught in limbo over this issue.

This is flat out bullsh*t. Typical, you pay Delta to transport your goods, Delta looses your paper work, no one in Delta is responsible to do sh*t, and on top of that you have to pay storage fees for their incompetence. Priceless. I'd be allover writing Delta HQ to try to get some type of refund or something, and it I got crickets from Delta, I'd be writing on how sh*tty their service is. Whatever happened to personal accountability and responsibility for their actions! Ugh!!!!! My apologies for the rant.

I do have email addy for the Delta shipping supervisor that admitted the paperwork was lost. I was waiting to get my storage invoice to ask for reimbursement. My importer advised to expect the run around, which I already do. This piece of my report is to post HOW CRAPPY Delta is

Well I have to give credit where credit is due. I submitted a claim through Delta Cargo asking to be reimbursed fro my storage fees due to their error in losing the paperwork. My importer said there was slim to no chance as they had never heard of an airline doing this much less Delta. Well I played "the game" for the past 5 weeks and finally got through to a claims agent that was helpful. I rec'd this email yesterday- fingers crossed the check actually arrives !

Finally getting around to getting some of my animals mounted. I recently finished up these two wall pedestal springboks.

dang, i am missing africa after your story buck wild!

Very nice mounts- looking forward to seeing the whole collection. Congrats and well done

The last of my mounts from this trip are done as I don't plan to mount the eland, at least not at this time. I enjoyed mounting this Black WB and slightly modified a floor pedestal mount to be a wall pedestal mount. I used my horn re-conditioning techniques and might have taken a few artistic liberties with the nose finish work but I like the effect :0
