Appears to be an antique percussion muzzle loader. Maybe a 12 gauge shotgun.

is the name Johnson on the lock?
if so this could be the name of the lockmaker and not the gunbuilder.
apparently there were firms that specialized in just manufacture of locks, and in usa such locks were sold in hardware shops.
british guns were sold in usa as well.
the checkering on this one does not suggest a high grade firearm.

It's on the plate right beside the hammer or lock on the side of the gun stock towards the barrel

And I just found on the bottom of the barrel After I took it apart hidden by the stock I found the word or letters (BURR)

It appears to have had some very rough metal work done on it. Sorry, but unless it turns out to be from a rare, highly collectible maker, it won’t be worth much.

The checkering on your Johnson is too new and farged up to have been done by anyone who wasn't a kitchen table Smith.

Your Johnson looks old and beat up........but when you have handled it did it seem o you that it might have the possibility of still going off if handled incorrectly?

And have you checked to see if there's still a live load in it. More than one old Johnson has been known to blow it's load if it gets primed and someone jerks the trigger.

To check it stick a rod in the end of your Johnson til it stops. Mark the rod, pull out and hold it against the end of your Johnson barrel and if it doesn't reach the end then it might have a load still in it.

If nothing else Jer.....have fun playing with your old Johnson........there may still b some life left in it.

This is a fireplace piece - and frankly, a pretty rough one. As Von S. notes always check these old things to see if it might still have a load on board.

Lots of inexpensive percussion fowlers (smooth bore guns intended primarily for shot) were produced on the continent for export. Many were stamped with "London" or similar marks to make them more desirable. To be honest with you, this one is about as rough as they come. Even if it were an English made gun, in this condition a dealer at a gun show would have it on his table $250 - $350 and would take the first $200 anyone gave him. If it is an old family piece, treasure it and put it on the wall. otherwise, it could be a curio in a game room.

As a black powder shooter/enthusiasts/re-enactor, and long time member of the National Muzzle Loadering Rifle Association.

I would really need better pics and the following info....to help answers your questions:

Is the bore rifled or smooth?
What is the barrel length and overall length of the gun?
Is the stock a true 1/2 stock or has it been cut off?
Any idea what caliber/bore size it is?
How bad is all that rust?
I would like to see more of the engraving work on the lock and tang,

From what little I can make out by your pics, lack of above info and the condition of this firearm, my best guess is you could have a "pig in a poke", it could be a: "parts gun" , an inexpensive custom gun or a low end european gun.
