Just bought and shot a 416 Rigby for the first time today! It is a used, but very good condition older model cz550 from another member here. I was worried about the feeding and roughness issues that are common to these, but after assurance by the member, I took the bait. I cannot begin to explain the comfort level that I am experiencing with this rifle already. I have not had experience yet with the accuracy of the sights yet, but first wanted to experience the overall shootability and recoil. This is the largest caliber to date, so just wanted to get the feel of it. It has what I would call a strong push with just the right amount of bite to let you know that it is a serious safari rifle, but not overbearing at all. I’m a bigger guy, but I could see most people being able to handle it with few worries. The pic shows the bullet from my first shot that went through 8 gallons of water jugs lined up before taking a downward turn and snapping a 2x4. Even better, I spent about a full hour this morning loading and cycling rounds. Not a single feed issue to be found! As I mentioned, I believe it to be an older (one crossbolt almost in the pistol grip) model, but the only problem that I could see is the front sight dot could use a new coat of paint. I’m so happy that I chose the Rigby! (Although the Rem mag or Ruger are probably equally fine rifles) If anyone is debating getting a Rigby, I say give it a big “heck yeah”!

Never mind the rainbow colored weird thing in the pic, it was taken at my mom’s house. Here is a top view. Tried to include video, but it says something about it’s from a unrecognized source.

what kind of bullet and load?
bruce.
I’m not completely sure yet. It was a handload from the seller. On the die card, his notes mentioned 400 gr nosler with 101 grains of rl 22. However, there was a spire point in a few loads and round nose in the majority. Attached pic is both rounds, but the recovered bullet is of the round nose type. I’m thinking maybe a partition, but I could be completely wrong. BnC 04 on here is who I bought the rifle from. (It was his Dad’s) BnC 04 also mentioned interbonds. If you can tell me the difference from the pics, please do because I’m also interested. I’m still waiting to hear back on load data.

Ok. Just heard back on the round nose loads. I was incorrect. It was Hornady 400gr interlocks over 102 grains of reloader 22 with cci 250 primers. It was his dad’s grizzly loads.

Enjoy Will, sure hope it finds its way back to the hills of Alaska some day. Until then I'm sure there is a buff that would love to meet up with the Rigby and Swift A Frames....

I’m gonna do everything within my power to keep it going around the world when I finish school again. It sure is one sweet shooting rifle. Thanks again! And grizzly and Cape buffalo are definitely part of the hit list.

Ya know, when you start a thread with "Just bought..."
It's generally followed by a few pics of what you just bought.
Just sayin'.

I like the grizzly paw prints on the floorplate. Very cool.

I would like to have the floorplate on my grizzly rifle engraved like that.

Buying a new rifle is enough to get you not thinking properly.
That's why we are here, to get you back on track.
Hope you feel better and thanks for sharing.

It was engraved at Wild West Guns in Anchorage, Alaska. I don’t know what it costs, but the guy they call “the kid” did it. You may be able to send them just the floor plate. I’m not sure though.
