Best Namibian Outfitter?

Kudu, Gemsbok, Red Hartebeest, Mountain Zebra, Springbok and Warthog (with a Steenbok thrown in) would be my Namibia Classics.
Great central Namibian list and absolutely achievable. Should you go to the Caprivi (at much greater cost) you can likely add free range sable, lechwe (very limited quota), waterbuck, and of course buffalo, croc, hippo, and elephant. I should also note Namibia is one of the very best destinations for leopard.

As several others have implied, I don't believe there is a "best" outfitter. So much in African hunting is about the rapport you develop with your guy. I can easily tick off nearly a dozen outfitters who will do a tremendous job. I have personally hunted with Nick Nolte, Dirk de Bod, and Jamy Traut and can recommend them without hesitation. But as I say, there are many more excellent choices.

I forgot Eland! I also hunted with Nick Nolte. Gorgeous area.

And maybe the best hunt in Namibia! Thanks for reminding.

Aru Game Lodges. DSC Outfitter of the year last year. Been there many times and going again in May. Hunted Caprivi with them as well. First class

Namibia is so friendly and the police are happy to see hunters and their rifles. I had an awesome hunt in October 2018 with Orpa Hunting Safaris. Dirk is honest and fair and will do whatever it takes to make your safari successful and keep you happy.

Have a look at Jan Oelofse safaris . They have been in business since 1975, over 200 000 acres . They run a grade A operation . They don't advertise much because they have so many returning clients.

I would suggest moving kudu, gemsbok and mountain zebra to the top of your list. The other animals you listed are available in other parts of africa and these three are great namibian trophies - especially the mountain zebra (my personal favorite). Mountain zebra were not even a consideration until I talked to other hunters that hunted namibia- they to a person all but demanded I put them (mountain zebra) my list. I'm eternally grateful to them- zebra is my favorite Namibian hunting memory.

Thank you all for your input so far. Im not looking to stay in a 5 star lodge but not looking to sleep on the floor either haha. Looking for a good representative of the species, i would almost prefer that there be others in camp to socialize with at the end of the day. Have any of you hunted with Hartland Safaris or Uhlenhorst Safaris? They are at the top of the list right now
I just looked them up. They do shoot some nice trophies but man there prices are high.

Another vote for Kowas. I had an amazing time with them on my first African safari last year. I booked a non-trophy hunt but added a trophy oryx and warthog. I had a morning's sound grouse shooting, and finished up with a few days in Swakopmund which included a sea fishing trip.
The Strauss family and their team are great hosts, and the whole operation runs smoothly and efficiently. I have many happy memories from my trip, and will book with

The decision to hunt Namibia is a good one. I am going back to Agarob Hunting Safaris in September for my second safari with them. Everyone's tastes and expectations are different, the "best" is a difficult one to pin down but my vote is for the Shickerling family at Agarob.
For instance, the three jackals in my avatar are the result of an offhand comment while driving back to the farmhouse after a long day in the field. "Want to sit in a blind behind the house while waiting for dinner?"
If you are going in 2021, you have plenty of time to travel to some shows here in US and meet, and talk face to face with multiple outfitters.
One final note, during my first "once in my lifetime, bucket list hunt" I started planning the next one....

You may want to also look at Botswana for the species mentioned.

Everyone forgetting Damara dik dik?, as it’s the only place in the world to hunt them. Their on my list for this year. Leopard is my priority but along with them mountain zebra klipsringer and Springbuck. My point being after you chose your outfit go have a blast! Namibia is a very special place to hunt. Big plus also on eland.

Welcome to AH. Several Namibian outfitters are sponsors of this site. I hunted with Jamy Traut last year at his Panorama camp. Had a great time.

I agree Jamy Traut safaris at panorama camp is a beautiful place, and an even better group of people! I didn’t see any large warthogs last year there but I will definitely hunt with him again!

Hello all!
I'm am still on the search for an outfitter for a plains game hunt in 2021. I am looking for an impala, blesbuck, warthog and either a zebra or gemsbuck. The ideal hunt would be 7-10 days, i am currently trying to talk my sister into coming as an observer since nobody else will join me.I have looked through dozens of outfitters and have contacted the most interesting ones. At the moment believe i should go to Namibia. Any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Whitworth375, Namibia certainly is a great choice and especially for free ranging species. North Western Namibia is the only area where you will be able to take Kudu, Oryx, Mountain Zebra as well as Damara Dik-Dik in their natural habitat. No matter what, you will have an amazing experience. Happy planning!

Hello again Whitworth375,

We’ve already exchanged PM’s a bit but, a belated Welcome to the greatest forum on earth anyway.
Even if you don’t hunt with Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris, no matter who you do choose to hunt with, you will do a double back flip when you see the truly massive wilderness and plentiful game herds of Namibia.

Cheers,
Paul.

You need to define carefully what you want. Want to be the only hunter in "camp" at a small, family run ranch hunt, or mingle with lots of other hunters at a bigger operation? High/low fence, indigenous or imported animals? Flat desert scrub or more mountainous or hilly. Conservancy hunt with all the good and bad that may go with it, or deeded property hunt? Any tourist activities? More concerned about 53" vs 51" on a kudu? Or great food and service? Wanna learn how the people live and the history? Or just in and out in the minimal time? There may be no "best" but there is a great fit for you in Namibia...............your inquiry is a fine start................best of luck...................FWB

Been to ARU game lodges many times over many years (twice this year already) ,first class lodges first class hunting ,very safe and very well organised from day of arrival to the day you leave and trust me you will want to go back !!! also hunted Caprivi with them great buff area

My buddy went with Uhlenhorst and had a phenomenal trip. He convinced me to book a hunt and my fiance and I are going in 2021 for our Honeymoon.

Here is his write up:
