Whenever I have hunted overseas, I've always rented a gun from the outfitter. I'm looking at a hunt in Spain later this year and intend to take my rifle with me this time. Since, my guns have never been far from home I do not have a durable gun case for them. What do y'all recommend for transporting guns internationally?

Pelican rifle case. Very well built. SKB makes my bow case, and if they make a rifle case it's probably great too.

Definitely Pelican cases. I have several of them from 2 gun to small ammo boxes that just hold 2 boxes. Nothing better.
What are you hunting in Spain? Love to hear the tale!

Had the airlines crush an SKB on a trip to Montana several years back. Both firearms survived the trip.

My recent trip to Africa I used a pelican double rifle case and it met all our expectations.

SKB military grade double rifle case. Been to Africa twice and several trips at home with no problems. Get one with 4 locks and use large 4 digit Sesames. No keys to lose and can't be picked.

I picked up a brand new SKB case on ebay for very little money, £58.00 if I remember correctly.
Four metal surrounded locking points, metal hinge pin and tough, durable construction and materials.
It's been to Africa three times with me now and there's enough room for a rifle minus scope and a shotgun.
The odd scuff and scrape which is to be expected but no problems for the contents.

My ammunition travels in a Pelican case, not sure which one, it might be the 1150?
Whichever it is I can fit two boxes of shotgun cartridges and fifty rounds of 30-06.

I use a cabelas single gun . Around $125.00. Africa, New Zealand . My gun was fine.

The top case is made by Americase down in Texas and is customized for a double and an additional bolt gun. Expensive but very strong. You don’t have to order custom as they are stock.
The bottom picture shows a flat case I got from Cabelas several years ago and it is about $200. It’s made five trips across the pond with no issues.
As others have said Pelican makes great cases. In fact the brown roller in the bottom photo is a Pelican that I have enjoyed using.

I have the pelican double case for my first safari camping up. I did have to take the scopes off as I shoot nightforce scopes and they have a 56mm bell. But with with nightforce rings they go right back in place no problem and I will put them in my backpack I take on the plane with me.

Pelican double gun case.
+2
They're extremely tough, solid and hard wearing case. My Pelican has been bashed around Africa and Oz - and never have my scoped rifles ever suffered any damage.

I Use an SKB double rifle case with no problems outside of a few teeth marks from the Gorilla's

Tuffpak worked well on its maiden voyage to South Africa. I also carried sundry bits in it.

My primary is a pelican 1750 double rifle. It’s made two trips across the pond and several within the U.S. with no issues. I have a 1510 for handguns that made one trip from Michigan to Alaska and it cracked in both front corners. Only issue I’ve have with pelican products. I use SKB for my bow and have no issues.

I never travel without my Pelican double case. Numerous trips here and abroad.

I'll be hunting Ibex for 2 days, then a driven hunt for red leg partridge and maybe a fox. The partridge will be interesting. I've never hunted birds and don't own a shotgun although I have fired one on a skeet range once or twice. Nor do I know anyone within a 100 miles that has a shotgun.

The Ibex is the Sierra Nevada Ibex in the Andalusia area and I'll be after a bronze level. After the hunt we'll tour Madrid for a couple days before heading home. This is planned for December this year, so it'll be early next year before I post a hunt report.

I purchased a Cabela's or a Gander Mountain aluminum case around 30 years ago and it is still going strong.

The only problem that I have had with it was on my trip to South Africa someone managed to bend one of the tabs enough to where I couldn't get the locking rod out. I just bent it straight and it was ready to go again.

I did learn one thing, get one with rollers on it for trucking through airports unless you grab a baggage cart.

+1 for the tuff pack. We have lots of people ask us if we’re going on a golfing vacation!!
