Last minute deals?

No high fences. Fair chase.

I can leave with as much notice as required to get rifle permits and book flights.

Would prefer not to hear about fenced operations in the cape.

Yes, cull elephant, etc would be considered.

Found out my vacation time is all forfeit if unused. I’m outta here!

USE that Vacation!!!!

It's is 12:45 a.m. now in Africa, it might be a few hours before the offers start coming in.

What other species would you entertain? I know a guy in Zim that is available. Could do a non-export elephant.

Hello rookhawk,

Have a peep at:
Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris.
Located in the Khomas Hochland Highlands of northern Namibia.
No game fences up there, except a small plot for game viewing while enjoying sundowners at the lodge.
There are antelope / Hartmann’s mountain zebra migrations across the large, not game-fenced hunting concession each season.
Also there is decent waterfowl, grouse and guineafowl hunting up there.

Bring your walking shoes and best quality binoculars.
We also offer horseback treks up there.
And, we now offer the dangerous 7 hunts down in the Zambezi District (formerly known as “The Caprivi Strip- not game fenced).
Likewise, we offer saltwater gamefishing, down at the coast, if interested.

Of course, I am very loyal to my aforementioned employer up there and I’m totally enchanted with the wild places in Namibia.
But, whomever you book with, in whatever country, I shall look forward to your full report as always.

Cheers,
Paul.

We have lots of free range options in Namibia. Do you have something specific in mind? Have you been to Namibia?
We have all the common game plus unique species like, Hartman Zebra, Damara Dik-Dik, Red Lechwe etc. all free range.

Hello Friends,

I’ve received a few replies, thanks. I’m still doing due diligence on them.

I want to clarify or emphasize the title of my ask again.

My hope was “we have some quota left, or we have a cancellation at last minute” sorts of replies.

I’ve received some full-price offers for ranch hunts off price lists. I appreciate that, but an impulse trip to hunt last minute isn’t something I want to do at “standard rate”.

The mode should be “Beggers can’t be choosers”, this is what we’ve got at a deal sort of hunt. Versus: we have everything as usual, come hunt our ranch.

Understand that I normally plan, do what I want, and do fly camp remote hunts. It doesn’t mean I won’t do something else now, but full price for ranch hunt isn’t something I’ll do last minute. *Especially since March-April is about the worst hunting conditions for Africa. I was thinking someone might be wrapping up a concession late and have something to offer.

I thought this would be a perfect scenario for a hunt with Wayne but he’s full up.

rookhawk, which trophies are on your wish list?

Friends,

I've been following up on many nice offers from some wonderful people. I only wish I could come visit all of you. (Particularly the RSA invitations with my children...perfect family offers were made)

In the end, I decided to go with Tokoloshe Safaris (Lon Denney) for an exportable bull hunt in the Binga campfire area up by the Zambezi for a week's hunt this month. Making final arrangements now and will be on the ground in little more than a week.

I look forward to getting to meet and hunt with Lou Hallamore on this trip to an area of Zimbabwe I've never seen before.

I love the people of Zim, just nervous as always with the logistical perils of traveling to "New Rhodesia". Fingers crossed.

Thank you for all the suggestions and opportunities that were presented.

Sounds like a great hunt, Rookhawk. Best of luck!

Look up Terry Fenn, Chinanga Safaris. He's got some awesome deals for elephant and buffalo right now. Best of luck!

That's getting it done. Two weeks from the ask to "on the ground, hunting". I love this site.

Looking forward to the report.

Good luck on the hunt. Looking forward to seeing a report. Hopefully you can get an import permit from USFWS someday to get the trophy parts home. No permits being currently issued but hopefully that changes. Travel safe!

I agree. It appears that US Customs / CITES import permits for Campfire related hunts through end of 2018 were on a case by case basis. I infer that there is a possibility in the future but it is TBD. I'm guessing 25%-33% chance.

Way to go @rookhawk! That's the way to do it - hunting elephant in the Zambezi valley. Makes me think of Ian Nyschens . . .

Looking forward to the report!
