Hi, I’m Will and I’m a 35 year old speech language pathology student with a 3 year old son. (Yes, I started late in life on both.) I had a 375 H&H when I was about 12 or 13 and I really regret selling it because it was great memories for me and my dad. We had nothing to shoot with it here in Alabama, but it was great fun anyways. I dreamed of taking it to Alaska and Africa, but it wasn’t meant to be. Now that I have a son of my own, I want to have something to pass down to him one day. This time I’m thinking 416 Rigby! If the Lord allows me to live long enough, I hope to maybe be able to go with my son on a Cape buffalo hunt for a graduation present one day. If not, maybe he’ll at least have some memories of him and dad killing whitetail does, phonebooks, and various kitchen appliances with a Rigby. Hopefully in about another month, I’ll have enough saved for a CZ550.

Happy hunting with your new 416.

Welcome to AH.

Will 416, welcome to AH! Start planning your Africa hunt now and when your son turns 14, make it real!

Welcome to AH!

Welcome to our forum Will. You'll enjoy that .416 Rigby, just takes a little practice. May be awhile before that 3 yr old can get the hang of it though! Good luck with your future plans!

Thanks to all. I’ve never felt so welcomed in an online forum before! I’ve been reading here a lot lately, so decided to join in with like-minded people who enjoy hunting. I hope to learn a lot, for I have several questions about bullet selection, rifle selection (although it’s currently looking like a cz550 due to me being on a tight budget while in school), etc. I like the Model 70, but not offered in a Rigby. I think the Rem mag is just as good for my purposes, but I like the nostalgia of the Rigby. Also like the 458 Lott, but never shot anything bigger than the 375 when I was young. I’m not recoil shy at all, but just very unfamiliar and hear very mixed reviews on recoil. Also, not a whole lot of elephant guns to try out in Alabama. Lol

Welcome and Roll Tide!

Welcome to AH from LA (lower Alabama)!

Welcome aboard Will 416. What other rifles do you currently own? Do you reload?
