SOUTH AFRICA: Leopard Valley Safaris aka Dave Davenport

Yes we all met, there was a lot of time that passed, being the first time going overseas, ya we had questions after the fact.

Help me with the details of the timeline here Michael.
You are sold a hunt by the broker at SCI?

You met with Dave, where and when?

Lets hope Dave remembers that. We went that next year to meet with Vince to discuss this we didn't see him at the SCI show.

My question was for you Michael! What company was your contract with?

@daved is welcome to join in if he'd like.

We met with Dave and Vince at the SCI show. Dave was in Vince's booth. My cousin met with Vince originally, then he came and got me and we all sat down together to discuss, left a 500 deposit.

Our contract was with Vince through Dave's company. Not sure what you are getting at here. Dave saw what Vince sold us.

Through the magic of the internet and webarchives I can tell you what the trophy fee prices were for Leopards Valley Safaris in 2013. Captured July 25, 2013

Michael, Details matter. I can understand you might be pissed off and just found AH this afternoon, but the lack of coherence and details leaves me wondering what's up.

The are some very specific lines that I am trying to understand.
Agents are not Outfitters or owners.

A contract with Vince is a contract with Vince (whoever he is). What's his company name?
Did he misrepresent LVS?

You have a Contract with Leopard Valley Safaris signed by Dave Davenport?

I have zero issue with you posting a negative hunting report on anyone you have hunted with. The value of the report or review is usually based on the details included. Rants, not so much.

That detail I don't remember. It was a contract with Vince, Dave and my cousin and me. Regardless if this was a contract with Vince, it was a hunt set up for LVS while Dave was there. If "he couldn't honor that" HE should of spoke up then rather then take advantage of us while we were there.

It's not a Rant it's an honest review and warning about LVS, but it appears you just side with Dave.

It appears that @BRICKBURN is asking for details and clarity.

As a new member, attacking a moderator who is known by members here to be fair and impartial does not buy you any credibility. That I assure you .

As a new member this is a bit different, this is how I remember it. He knew we weren't happy, yet it appears he didn't care. With going on other Safaris with several outfitters Dave's service was definitely different from the rest, I felt I came home with friends for life, this is not the case with Dave and Niki.

............ it appears you just side with Dave.

:ROFLMAO:

I gave your report enough credence that within minutes of your post I sent a Whatsapp to Dave informing him of your concern. I have no idea where he is or what he's up to. Perhaps he will reply here or not. That's up to him.

I want every honest hunt report I can get on AH. It only helps other hunters learn from mistakes made by Outfitters and Hunters.

By the way @Michaelh I like your Sable.
Please spend some time and do some write ups for the other GOOD encounters you have had in Africa.

I agree. That has been my mission to help others not make the same mistake I did. My name is everything and when I vouch for someone I'll do everything in my power to help them make the right steps to have an enjoyable time like I have on so many other safaris.

Thank you on the sable, it was a great/frustrating hunt as it was not easy, 7 stocks and 6 busts, it was one of my most favorite hunt of all times.

I will take the time to post on other threads and give some great review. I have been on 2 every year since Dave and going on 3 this year. I'm still trying to figure this whole site out.

Take some time and you’ll figure it out.

I had a great hunt at Leopard's Valley (2014). Dave and Nikki were great, our PH was a quality guy and hunter, the trophy quality was exceptional and my dad and I had a wonderful adventure. I sent my buddy (Shawn) and his dad there a few years later and they had a nice hunt as well.

When asked the question by experienced AH members

............. what caused you to bring this up 5 years later? ..........

............. The other thing that I see right off is that this hunt took place 4 1/2 yrs ago. For my self I can understand feeling the need to call someone out on a poor hunt, but this seems like a LONG time after the fact. ..........

Just learned about AH. OK.

In the interests of full disclosure I tend to do searches of information provided here on AH. The pattern over the years holds true to form, when a first time poster starts out with an outright condemnation. Some are bourn out and others are just hatchet jobs. I'd like to know which.

Google is your friend. Image search and poof: from a promo clip. Seems to be the same image.

Whois on the website: OWNER of Affordable African Hunts is MJ Custom Cabinets, Utah.

From there Google easily finds the website and Jared.

From the earlier image search Google finds: Someone selling hunts for the competition.

Dave does not want to get into a public bashing of a previous client, but was willing to get back to me and shared copies of:

  1. "The Hunting Consultants" (Vance Corrigan) receipt for deposit dated 2/6/14
  2. Email from Dave to OP confirming the details: 21 February 2014
  3. Email from OP to Dave August 5, 2014 query swopping
  4. Copy of a contract initialled by Dave, at the OP's insistence, with the prices agreed upon.
  5. Final Invoice 17/08/2014
Extra clients, extra activities, extra travel included in final bill.

No contact of complaint before today.

Apparently There were three properties hunted. The furthest was Asanta Sana. Which is actually just over the ridge from LVS.

Google Earth says the far side of Asanta Sana is 6 miles and change as the crow flies from LVS. It is likely an hours drive if you go by road.
