I bought this some time back to build a custom on. I decided to go another direction so I'm passing this on. It's in sound original condition. I have never shot it. No pop up peep.
$950 shipped CONUS to your FFL

How does the barrel look inside? What had you planned earlier to do to the rifle?

Can antone tell me if there is any rhyme or reason why some have the pop up peep? Date made, caliber etc.

From my understanding the pop up peep was on some of the ZKK actions only between 1966-1976 and done away with after that. I spoke with Wayne at AHR the other day and he told me that he has a guy that will install a replica exactly like the BRNO peep on a CZ550 action, I don’t see why it couldn’t be done on a BRNO action either. It is certainly a cool feature to have on a rifle.

Did he quote you a price

@Scott CWO The board is near perfect. I doubt it has been shot very much. That’s one of the reasons I purchased it initially.
I bought it to send to AHR for a custom build. I decided to go a different direction and never did anything with this rifle.

I’ll soon be posting a 1909 Argentine DWM Mauser, a 1908 Brazilian Oberndorf Mauser and a 1908 Carl Gustav Swedish Mauser that were all going to be customs but I’ve decided to go different directions.

@Bullthrower338 Thank you for asking the question as I have the very same thought. I just picked up my new favorite mid bore bolt gun. IE a Bruno BBK 602 in 375 H&H. It is in the original box with both triggers and bolt take down tool. It has never been shot. The gentleman I purchased it from got it at a estate sale where it had been sitting in a safe for a long time. I am currently sorting out a recoil pad to get it to my LOP.

@AWLee I know someone looking for a 602 and I will pass along your info.

What an awesome find Dave! Congratulations

Congratulations guys! Excellent deal!

Helluva Deal!

Very pleased. Thankfully AWLee was patient. I was waffling since the stock didn't have cross bolts but prefer the higher comb on the rifle stock to the style CZ is offering now. Price drop made it even more difficult, but a local smith can handle the cross bolt install for me, along with bedding the action. No brainer at that point. It will serve me well as an elk rifle until I can get a PG trip set up.

Hello MikeW
I just saw your response to earlier correspondence, with reference a BRUNO CZ 602 in .375HH. I was wondering if you got to hunt with it in Africa? I have been a PH for the last 34 years, guiding in Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Mozambique, South Africa and mostly for the last 23 years in Tanzania.
I started my career with my Bruno in .375, and it has never given me and issues, I felt so secure with that gun that I decided to have a .416Rem built on the same action so if have a matching set with the same action.
When I was an apprentice in Matetsi Safari Area, Zimbabwe, a client from Germany(a kindly elderly doctor) suggested that I might like to back him up on an elephant, along with the licensed PH guiding him, to give me some experience. Being at the back of the line up, it was neither safe not prudent for me to shoot from my position, however after the first volley of shots from the hunter and PH, the elephant roared away to our right. I took what can only be described as a last ditch attempt to stop the bull as it was disappearing into the adjacent Mopani thicket. Stepping to the right and away from the crowd reloading, I fired a shot at the only piece of the bull that I could see, being just behind it's ear. The bullet entered the neck far enough back so as to pass through the second vertebra, exiting just in front of the left ear hole. Needless to say the elephant crumpled in mid stride, dead on it's feet, falling flat on his face. I was so impressed with that shot that the rifle has always had a soft spot in my heart.
I hope you enjoy your BRUNO too.
Does anyone know why they stopped making that action.

In my opinion, this is typical factory re-designing of next production line, to save the cost of production.
Peep pop up sight, was on ZKK from 1966-1976, then removed. After 76, rifles were made without it.

CZ is doing this "redesigning" ever since, in rifle line of production. Up to modern 557 and 600, no longer CRF, and without magnum length action in production.

But I also must say, that I am not aware of any other factory that makes this feature on modern bolt action hunting rifle today.

In the sixties, many rifles were not fitted with scopes, and some type of mechanical sights were necessary.
In modern days, scopes are present everywhere and in all price ranges, which reduces the need for fine high quality peep sights.

To make matters worse, modern factory hunting rifles without iron sights are in majority today.
We can add one more ingredient to this soup: the appearance of "long range hunting" and this does not need iron sights, although the rifles will be different from traditional classic hunting rifle.

In short, cost saving in production, market conditions have changed, pop up sights, are gone.
