Has anyone here hunted Chete since the beginning of 2018 or have knowledge of the conditions there?

I’ll be there September 1-10. Looking forward to the hunting and tiger fishing!! So I too am interested!

The 40" buff and 59 1/2" kudu in my avatar came from Chete 2o years ago this year when Roy Vincent had the concession. I would like to hunt there again, but heard it went through some rough years of neglect and poaching, however there is talk the camp is rebuilt and quality of game is on the way back. Hearing some first hand reports would be great. Whitetail, what made you decide to hunt there?

I will be going with PH and dear friend Jacques Spamer of JKO Safaris (I help represent him in the US). He is friends with Wayne of Jimba Safaris where we will be staying, directly on the shore of Lake Kariba. Heard the elephant, croc and hippo hunting is spectacular there! We will fly in and out of Vic Falls- it’s about a 4 hour drive to the Sijarira camp.

I am flying to the area on Tuesday sir. I will send you information when I get back later next week....

If you look at that other forum that I will not mention there is some pictures and updates on chete. Looks promising and good luck with your hunt. Btw I saw it under deals and offers.

Sounds fun— best of luck to you and jacques—haven’t seen lake Kariba except from plane windows — soon?

I will be hunting in Chete in May. What I saw when I was there a few weeks ago, I am happy with with the lodge, area and movement.

Unfortunately it has been abused previously by the people who hunted it but I can say that I can assure anyone wanting to hunt there that the management of the area is now in good hands and will soon be what it was years ago if not already.

I will do a report on my hunt in May and it is a beautiful area. I saw enough buff / ele and leopard tracks in the short time I visited the area.

If anyone has questions, please feel free to send me a pm at any time. I will be happy to help with questions etc.

All my best,

Jacques
