From a Professional Hunter's point of view... A 458 Lott or 505 Gibbs?

Stop it Stop it so want the 505 Gibbs !

Here's what a 505 Gibbs should look like. It's a little too expensive for me. Hartmann and Weiss

I only spent 7 days hunting bears on Upper Togiak Lake, with my stainless/synthetic Trinyte coated XCR II and the stainless striker on my bolt (only thing not coated) was flecked with rust spots when I got home. Alaska is tough on guns and I wasn't even near the sea.

I believe accuracy is the most important thing, as both calibres are capable performers. If you can handle the extra recoil of a 505 then it would be better but if you lose accuracy stepping up to the bigger calibre then think again. That stands for PH's and hunters alike, it depends on how you feel about recoil
