Will post pics hopefully by this weekend. Got this rifle early October. Added a Ruger modified barrel band. Added NECG UNIVERSAL front sight. It has the 1/16" red fiber bead but they make many options for replacement if the owner should desire. Added a Pre 64 Winchester rear express sight. Zeiss 2-8 42mm scope with adjustable red dot intensity. Warne two piece base and QD rings. Don't think it was shot before my acquisition. Maybe 40 or so rounds down the tube. Pendleton brake and nice wood. A few dings on the gun now. The scope had a couple blemishes but works great, confirmed with shooting loads and a couple of deer kills. Minimal metal scuffs. You can buy a new one as soon as you locate one for sale. But this one was made in 1986 and is discontinued. Japan made.
More info if needed and pics hopefully by the weekend. $3,600.00 for the package and probably not interested in breaking the package.....yet.

Now there's a weapon that you can stand down anything on this planet....including whales.....and never have to ask yourself the question, " Help me God, Is thing thing powerful enough?"

And if you're in good with the almighty and he ain't too busy and answers you you'll probably get, " Of course it is! It's what I use and I've never been stompted or chewed on......go in safety my son"!

"WEATHERBY..... It's what God uses"!

Good to see you're in good humor tonight!

Bas,

I would buy that weapon myself, but what would I say to the other two I have?

The 460 is by far the best dangerous game round in the world that you can buy factory ammo for. A shot into the chest of "Black Death" turns him into " Black Mush" and crumples him like an empty brown paper bag. And should your friend flub a shot with a lesser caliber and the only shot you have to stop it is 200 yards , if you hit chances are you will drop it.

And a lion or giant bear hit with the right expanding projectile will die in a quick biblical manner as if a score of brick hath fell upon him.

It is most assuredly a man's round for manly men who are on a seek, scearch and absolutely destroy mission. Where second best simply won't do.

If a car was built to emulate the 460 it would have a 2000 horsepower engine, if it was a breakfast cerial it would be a combination of shredded wheat, metal shavings and anphetamines.

The man who desires a 460 would be a guy who go on R&R in Bangkok and the town would shut down for a month after he left cause the girls were all worn out.

It's all that and then some. :A Banana:

You ever shoot one ? If you live close maybe we can work it out and you'll see is was made by mortal man to be shot by mortal man. Different shooting technique helps , it ain't a 243.

I keep reading up on this cartridge. With a starting load you are just under 2400 fps. That would work completely adequately and would tame any recoil concerns. If you felt good with more recoil then there is a lot of room for load development . I dont know why people will like the 450 Rigby but not the 460 Weatherby as they start out at the same place. Good luck with the sale!

I have very limited knowledge about rifles compared to my friends here on this forum .. but I thought I should share my experience about the 460
Weatherby.. below there are two bullets one was original weatherby ammo 450 grains Barnes TSX shooting at 2700 FPS which was recovered from a giraffe.. the other one is a hand load 500 grain swift A frame shooting almost at 2400 FPS which was recovered from a lion
both were one shot kills and I was feeling as @Von S put it so elegantly..

The 460 weatherby is just a neck up 416 Rigby with a belt. You can load it the same as the 450 Rigby.

I've heard that. Right now I'm playing with 250gr. - 300gr. bullets and have some loading to do. Trying to push them fast as possible while remaining accurate. 260GR. CEB 1 1/8" best load so far. Moving on to Barnes 250gr. and 300gr..

Could you share the distances these shots were made ?

Thank you, Bob

Cem, I would have thought that a 460 would blow right through a lion. Did that bullet travel from stem to stern?
