Hi All, Hoping some one can help. busy booking flights from london to harare. but going via jo'berg. is 90 minutes enough time to change flights and hopefully firearms have been moved in transit . its Virgin airways from UK moving to BA in SA.
thanks

90 Minutes is not enough IMHO.

BA in SA?
Who is the operator and ensure they are licensed to handle firearms in RSA

I doubt you will be able to check your rifle through to Harare. (Arms embargo, etc.)

I see multiple problems: 90 minutes is not enough, in my opinion. You have to go through a passport control area, sort of an abbreviated version of immigration and it can be slow. Also, I have seen numerous comments on this forum about BA not carrying guns in Africa. BA is actually Comair, which I think is short for Communist Air. Better check the details.

BA from JNB to Zimbabwe with guns? I do not believe that will happen. I'm quite certain the UK gov't has stopped that. @spike.t, can you confirm?

I would say it is not enough time.
I give myself at least a couple of hours minimum when flying on to Namibia and that's with the same airline.
Have you looked at South African Airways to see if they can provide your journey all the way?

As an aside, does anyone know what the score is with travelling to Zimbabwe at the moment with the current riots and fuel shortages and price hikes?
Are outfitters having to pass on the rise to hunters?

@ianevans If you are booked on a through ticket from UK to Harare with firearms you won't be able to take the firearms due to Uk government embargo on any firearms being taken there even temporarily .also it's comair in SA that run BA there as a franchise and they don't carry firearms.... So you are not going to be able to do this. Also 90 minutes is nowhere near enough time.......the only way...and I am saying this hypothetically of course is to have your ticket ending in joburg and having a separate ticket from Joburg to Harare with SAA

Whew! Unless, we've missed something, that has trouble written all over it. I'd try to get help from a qualified travel agent who has experience in such things... if such exist in UK.

Not enough time!

Won’t work, no travel agent would set that ticket up if they have firearms knowledge. Get with @Travel Express or TWG to book your ticket.

As several have pointed out, you have multiple problems. (1) you cannot have on one ticket the UK to Zimbabwe and carry a firearm. (2) your BA flight is really a Comair flight and they do NOT carry firearms (3) you do not have enough time at JNB.

Hypothetically, one would have to purchase a ticket from the UK to RSA and a separate ticket from RSA to Zimbabwe on SAA, Airlink or SA Express (and you must have advance approval to carry the firearm). And of course claim the firearm in JNB which would require a much longer time between flights. I say hypothetically as it's unlawful to carry a firearm from anywhere in the EU to Zimbabwe.

Of course without a firearm, Emirate flies to Zimbabwe and no change of plane at JNB.

Its my understanding that Emirates will fly into Harare from Dubai with firearms.

Yes correct, but his flight will originates in the EU. It's unlawful to take a firearm from anywhere in the EU to Zimbabwe.

Thank you all for your input . i'm glad i asked as now it's back to the drawing board and work something out differently . i'm planning october so have enough time to get it right .
many thanks again
