Exactly how many Houstonians do we have here?

I used to duck and goose hunt with Carl Hopkins out in Brookshire and Fulshear. You are right about those snows. They're awful.

Snow geese are delicious. You just have to know how to cook ‘em. And no, I’m not joking about throwing away the meat and eating the feathers.

I got my MIL and former-vegetarian wife to dig into snow goose so heartily I didn’t have any leftovers. I didn’t anticipate that. I had to have a peanut butter sandwich for lunch the next day.

Being in Clear Lake I’m happy the convention is downtown.

best I've ever been able to do with snow goose is to make them about as palatable as moose $h!+ pie.

I make fajitas out of them. I’d post my marinade recipe but since I’m driving perhaps now is not the time.

It’s good.

Sadly no, however we had such a great time last year we are coming back next week!!

Houstonian for the last 11 years....Glad the convention is at the GRB as it’s right across the street from my office!

Phil

Not sure if that is a typo or what...but I definitely do dislike the 300 Winchester Mag.

I think you meant to say "but disliking", without the "not"?

Short necks are for wrestlers!

Just wanted to set the record straight... ;)
Dude always thought you were an awesome guy but wtf....... who doesn’t like a 300 WM. Your not a closet communist are you?

If anybody wants to try goose fajitas:

4 cups soy sauce
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
4 oz lemon juice (1/2 cup)
8 teaspoons ground ginger
6 goose breasts

Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic and onion powders, lemon juice and ginger, mix well to dissolve the sugar. Reserve one cup of marinade. Pour remainder over goose breasts and marinate, covered, at least two hours. It's better if you marinate it overnight in the refrigerator.

Remove the meat from the marinade and grill. Brush meat with reserved marinade two or three times while cooking. Slice meat into rather thin slices. Maybe not biltong-thin, but I cut it thinner than I would beef. Serve with flour tortillas, sauteed onions, rice, beans and all that other fun fajita stuff. And margaritas. Can't forget those.

Well I was born Southern, but Texas isn't really southern. It sort of is, but it's its own thing. I wasn't born here, but I got here as quick as I could. Been here almost 30 years now. I'm afraid we're going to be californicated within the next 5 or 6 years. Not sure why folks have to come to a place that's good and drag all their trash with them, turning us into the dumps they fled.

Next move will be PNW or Panama. I haven't decided which yet.
Agree 100% except for 1 thing. Texas is absolutely a southern state. We were the 4th to seceed from the Union on Feb 2 1861. My whole family fought for the grey but I will say that I agree we are different from the other southern states. We never voluntarily rejoined the union and were more of an occupied territory for many years afterward.
It be nice to tell everyone duces again then evict all the damned californicators.

Not a chance, Comrade!

I was a Cold War Marine...we had posters of Ivan in the barracks! Every time we left to hit some liberty, we passed a poster with Ivan cleaning his rifle with the caption "Ivan is busy training. What are you doing tonight"? lol

I said it before and I'll say it again....short necks are for wrestlers!!

Not a Weatherby guy in general, but the 300 Wby is a better designed cartridge than the 300 Win Mag. And the 300 Dakota is better than both!

But that 7.62x39? Oh baby...now that is a round for the people!! :)

Oh brother. That’s like saying I don’t like apple pie, baseball, and boobs.

The 300 mag is like the greatest cartridge ever! Easy to load, very effective, and chicks dig a 300 WM guy. The 300 Wby is like a one of those trucks with a 12” lift on it. It screams I don’t really use this ridiculous thing and I have a small penis.

That’s basically the same thing commie.

Well, I have never owned a 30-06 either!

So I suppose now I am both a commie and an uneducated Trumpkin!

Now guys, we all know that the 300 Holland and Holland is the cat’s pajamas if a cat was to wear pajamas. She might not be the fastest but gets the job done wonderfully
