To complete this analogy, he was still very competent at his job and worked as part of the team.

Gender identity is an irrelevant factor if the person is otherwise well balanced and competent. The challenge is when gender dysphoria causes a mental illness or distress:

Treatment: The goal is not to change how the person feels about his or her gender. Instead, the goal is to deal with the distress that may come with those feelings.

But the biggest challenge is for a straight person to not give a crap about another person's sexuality. There does not seem to be a cure for that particular problem yet. There is a presumption is that a person with gender dysphoria is mentally unstable for the purposes of military service. I don't know if that presumption is accurate or not. But a mental illness would be a separate reason for exclusion in any event, so why the concern with gender identity if they are good soldiers?

Personally, if you keep your business to yourself, and make your life about being a good person - with good thoughts, good words and doing good deeds - then I could care less if you wear a dress when out of uniform. But, when in uniform I also strongly believe that you must be a soldier first and foremost. When in uniform you put all your personal issues aside.

Maybe because no terrorists enter the country via the southern border, but they arrive through the airports?

The wall is to prevent illegal immigration, not terrorists. Try another spin.

Hogpatrol,
I'm sure the Wall runs over private land too.
It takes years until the state can expropriate you from us (in Germany), as long as I assert all legal objections.
Is such a thing faster in USA ?

Foxi, most of the walls run along the highway's "right-of-way", essentially created with the construction of the highway and yes can be on private land.

I think you will find this isnt much of an obstacle in this case @Foxi

There is already fencing and a wall present in many places along the US Southern border.. For example along many miles of the border near El Paso TX, SanDiego, CA, and other places there is already a wall, to include on land that is privately owned. It has been constructed over the course of years as part of the 2006 Secure Fence Act.. What we are talking about now is really just a bigger, more difficult wall to scale or dig under, etc..

Easements have long been in place where a wall is already present.. There is no legal battle to be fought with the land owners in many locations..

There are certainly places where the US government would have to go through the "eminent-domain" process to obtain access to other parts of the border.. but there are plenty of places to get the project started while that occurs where access is already taken care of.. The US Government could literally start building tomorrow at all of the locations (many, many miles) where access rights have already been obtained and stay busy for a few years while they wait out eminent domain elsewhere..

Much of what is being seen in the media, both domestically and internationally is not much more than political grandstanding.. Just last March congress funded an additional 33 miles of wall to be built on the TX border with Mexico in addition to what has already been in place since 2006...

Its not like a significant portion of the US border with Mexico doesnt already have a wall... a wall has been in place for over a decade.. and both democrat and republican administrations have funded section of border wall previously..

A company I worked for previously held a significant contract along manning security posts all along the southern border while sections of not only border wall, but also electronic sensors and other equipment was being installed from 2007-2010.

The current media BS, racism accusations, etc..etc.. is just more bread and circuses from our politicians and our media outlets..

Well stated Dave. Following along on the circus theme, I'll add this meme.

interesting perspective from a guy that lives in a country that has 345 km of electrified border fencing (walls) with two of its neighbors that were built for the expressed specific purpose of controlling illegal immigration and drug smuggling @Bushpig4Ever

How exactly is a US wall with Mexico an issue with you, when the 3500 watt electrified barriers between South Africa and Mozambique and Zimbabwe that have killed numerous people over the years are not?

How is a US wall a problem for "the world" when there are 36 national borders around the globe that are walled off for the same reasons the US is citing it wants to wall off its southern border?

I dont hear any public outcry about the wall between Hungary and Serbia..

Or the wall between Malaysia and Thailand

Or the wall between Russia and Ukraine

Or the wall between Botswana and Zimbabwe...

Or the wall between China and North Korea..

Why exactly is the wall in the US a problem or concern for the rest of the world when the others clearly are not?

The EU seems to be ok with border walls for itself....

Asia seems ok with border walls also....

Walls between middle eastern countries appear to get no disapproval from the rest of the world...

RTR2G4VG.jpg

And I hear no one complaining about the wall that has killed close to a hundred people between two African countries..

beit-bridge-border-road-and-fence-separating-zimbabwe-and-south-africa-D100C0.jpg

But the US wanting a wall between itself and Mexico is bad!!!!!!! and the guy pushing hard for is is bad!!!!!!! (says EU leaders, asian leaders, middle eastern leaders, and african leaders.. as well as citizens from the very nations that have walls of their own)..

The hypocrisy is thick enough to cut with a knife..

For what its worth, I am not a proponent of building a border wall.. I think there are better things the US government could do with the money..

But to hear democrats in the US claim this is something they dont support now that Trump is in office because "orange man bad!" is ridiculous.. there is plenty of evidence of many sitting members of the US congress that are democrats voting for wall funding in the past.. and many of the most prominent members of the US congress that are democrats literally live in their own walled compounds..

and to hear people from other countries cry out about the wall.. when they live in countries with walls themselves..

seems a bit silly to me..

Hell.. the EU has built more than 1000 KM of border walls around itself since the berlin wall was taken down...

I suspect it's not so much a wall they object to as Trump. He seems to engender unreasoning, mouth foaming rage in some people.

When you piss off the rest of the world, you know you're doing the right thing for America.:E Happy:
