Hello everyone I am new to this group. I am a diehard fisherman and shooter and hunter. I have wanted to hunt Africa since I was in my early 20's and in about a year I am turning 40 and I am looking to make my first hunt in Africa happen. I look forward to reading on this forum and learning about hunting in Africa. I have hunting experience in California, Colorado and Nevada. I have yet to hunt in my new home state of Wisconsin.

AH welcomes you. I've never hunted Wisconsin but I have friends from there that annually go back home to hunt. White tailed deer and black bear are what I hear about most. To be sure you can get all of the information you need to plan your first, second, third etc. trip to Africa can be found on these pages. What have you hunted in the past? What kind and caliber rifles do you own?
In the past I have hunted Pheasant and Duck in California. Feral hog was my favorite and most affordable to hunt. I went on several Elk hunting trips in the San Juan mountains in Colorado but was not the shooter I went for the experience. I did some prairie dog shooting. In Nevada I spent a lot of time in the high desert shooting monster jack rabbits and rattlesnakes. I also had a few encounters with Mountain Lion but did not have a tag the few times I encountered one. My main guns I shoot are
- Marlin 1895 guide gun 45-70
- Savage Brush hunter 338 win mag
- Ruger Scout rifle 308 win.
- Marlin 336 30-30
- Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter 44 mag
The sad thing to report is the rifle I have in my hands the most is a Ruger Mini 14 I use at work.
