Your 3 favorite hunting cartridges of all time

This is a very difficult question as there are so many different species of stuff to kill and many will onver lap into a different category.

Ok

Stuff that will kill me, stomp me, eat me, squish me or play wild ping pong with my jingle Bob's?

600 OK
500 NE
460 WM

Things that will use you as a training aid to teach their children how to hunt or what to run over for fun.

378 WM
458 Win
416 Rigby

Long range dropping of animals that you just can't or don't want to get near and have a great chance of hitting.

30-378WM
378 WM
The Ultra Mag Line

Rounds to use in the country of Texas for Speed Goats, Mulies and white Tail Deer.

264 Winchester
25-06 AI
6 mm x 06 AI

Small edable stuff like deer.

250-3000 AI
308
7 x 57

Pigs and stuff like that.

223
6.5 Grendel
AK rounds

Bad People.

All the above and then some.
Maniacal cackle after that post .......

.22 LR Everyone should have one
8 x 60 JRS 'cause it's so damn cool
.243 Win 'cause it fills the gap between the other two

Was not going to get in on this but cannot resist any longer, so here we go:
.22LR
7x57 (could not really decide between it and 6.5x55, 8x57 and .30-06, but let's say the 7 gets the nod)
9.3x62

1) .22lr
2) .308 Win
3) 7mm Rem Mag

I also love .17 WSM, .223, .22-250, .243, 7mm-08, .270, .30-06, .30-30 and .300 Win Mag!

That should do it!

The 375 WBy thread got me thinking of my favorite hunting cartridges off all time.

Here are mine:

22 LR
9.3x62 (followed close my a 375 wby--less bark with the 9.3)
450/400 3" (really it was the gun it was in--but was a sweet shooting as they come)

Ed
22 savage hi power. 8x72 r 9.3x64 brenneke 50-70 gov. .577 nitro. I like odd stuff. Lol

Big game ideal 3...

270 Win- 130gr Barnes TSX
375 H&H- 270gr Barnes TSX
500 N.E- 570gr Barnes banded solid

Last 3 on earth..

22lr- semi auto
375 H&H- this time with a 300gr flat nosed solid
12ga - 3in chamber

.450 nitro. My first classic big game cartridge.. (has a .458 win mag before it which leads to...)

.458 win mag - my first big bore.

.22 hornet. Shot more with this cartridge than any other.

Centerfire Rifle Battery
.223 Remington
.30/06
.375 H&H

Add to that:
.22 LR
12 ga.

I think with those five long arms I could realistically hunt anything and not feel overly handicapped.

Sometimes the choices are common, pedestrian and boring because they are very good at what they do.

Center Fire:
8X57is
9.3x62
.458 Lott

followed by the:
6mm Rem.
8X68s.
375 H&H

Rem Fire
.22LR
.17 HMR

My favorites are:
257 weatherby LH ultra light weight
300 weatherby LH ultra light weight
375 RUM on a left hand Mark V

30-06 Springfield

375 H&H

This last ones hard but am going to say 470 nitro for some reason.

Not including rimfires, this is my stab at all time personal favorites:
223 Remington/ 5.56 x 45
30-06 Springfield
338 Winchester

The 223 and 30-06 would probably be constants. They are not flashy in today's hyper velocity cartridges, but suit me fine.
I have several cartridges that are favorites and 3 does not scratch the surface.

Also other real favorites for me are:
7mm-08
7mm Remington
7mm WSM
308 Winchester/ 7.62 x 51
300 Winchester
300 WSM
8x57
325 WSM
375 Ruger
375 H&H
416 Ruger
416 Remington
Of these, at the moment, the 7 WSM, 325 WSM, 375 Ruger, and 416 Ruger would be favorites.
An 8x57 in stainless/ synthetic is at top of the want list.

22-250
270 Win
375 H&H

with a tip of the hat to the 22lr and 12 ga

.22 LR Everyone should have one
8 x 60 JRS 'cause it's so damn cool
.243 Win 'cause it fills the gap between the other two

I've never spoken to anyone else who has an 8x60JRS. That really is cool, I have one too!

Calibres for me are .22lr, .22-250 and 6.5x55. In the UK those will cleanly deal with everything we have outside of the zoo. Everything else I have is because I enjoy learning about different rounds. my 8x60 is a drilling. I barely use it but sometimes I go out and don't know if I will need to shoot a squirrel or a deer, or maybe both. It's perfect for that.

TOUGH choice, but for local African hunting, I love:
30-06
300 Win Mag
375 H&H Mag
Including elephant, then 458 Win Mag

22 LR
270 winchester
416 rigby

All three are classic legacy calibers in my opinion and with them there is one for every game animal available.

The 375H&H is my heavy gun, the 7x57 Mauser is my all around rifle and a 22lr has to be in everyone's closet. The 22lr was my first rifle received at age nine; I've put more rounds through 22lr's than all the other rifles combined.

Until this guy posts something on pay it forward free I would avoid him at all costs.

If it hasn't sold by next week I might be interested. Stock would have to be changed along with some other items. I'm already having a 416 Rigby built so money is a tad bit tight.

Hey pal! I'll take all the .375 bullets if they're available.
Thanks!
