Got my Manson reamer etc coming in the mail

if it is to go on a mauser,
lothar walther could well supply a threaded /chambered/profiled barrel.
their chambers are deep so that a gunsmith can face off the rear of the barrel for correct headspace.
if you can get one, the lightest profile is virtually a featherweight, and might be a little light for this cartridge.
the next profile up would be ideal.

From an RWS importer in Aus today.
10.3 doesnt necessarily mean 10. fkn three

The email you sent me from RWS says a bore diameter of 10.51mm. The 10.3x60R has a bore diameter of 10.25mm and grooves 10.49mm. Is this what you want?

I would be able to order one. You need to work out which of their profiles you want.

I won't be ordering until December as I will be in Germany for the next few weeks.

When it comes to twist rates, for quite a few years most of the rifle manufacturers were stuck in the past using rates too slow to use the new style, heavier for caliber bullets available today. They have since got on the bandwagon and now you are seeing twist rates able to shoot those bullets.

My wife might free my nads from my body if i spend anymore money on guns at the moment. Just got my 275 a week ago.

Latest development from a RUAG spokesman is as per below.

Only the chamber and of course the “cone” from the chamber (green section) into the rifling is different, but this is no problem cause your gunsmith has to cut this part anyway especially for you (green section).

So a complete barrel blank with only the rifling in 10,3mm (red section) without chamber would suit your needs, if your gunsmith is able to cut the chamber.

The 10,3x60R and 10,3x68Mag use also the same bullets.

The background of the development of the 10,3x68Mag was to use the already available rifling tools, barrel blanks and bullets of the 10,3x60R but to create a more powerful caliber with less bullet drop.

So this is why only the chamber eg, case of the 10,3x68Mag is different to the old 10,3x60R.

Can always run .416 bullets through a die to get them down to the right size too.

Yes one of the Aussie mates has suggested that and that he can make the die ok.

These links are live if copied and pasted into the address bar

Paid up front for a Lothar Walther CM barrel yesterday.
Mag sporter profile and unchambered of course.

The reamer should arrive today, the barrel wont be shipped from Germany until January.
So next I suppose is for an action to source unless the old Sako .300 wm gets the job.

Slowly catchee monkey!
