What are some suggestions for base and rings for my Winchester M70 in .375 H&H. I have to admit, I either run an AR platform rifle or use Rugers. I’m at a loss for what I should get to put on my 70.

Any ideas are welcome.

Plan on trying out a Bortex 1-8x I have in my inventory. Figure it won’t cost me anything since it is inventory and with their warranty, I have nothing to lose if it doesn’t stand up to the recoil.

If you don’t need QD, I like the 1 piece Tally rings.. they don’t require bases and are super strong...

For QD I really like Warne Maxima... that’s what I’ve got on my Win 70 .375 currently..

Much appreciated. I will look at them. I was totally lost as far as height, type, etc..

I like Warne bases and run Leupold PRW QD rings on My Winchester 458 win mag and Remington 416.

Warne Maxima QD rings for me with no loss of zero.
The Talley QD rings didn't work well for me, but once I switched to the Warne everything was fine.
That's not to say the Talley's are no good, I know other swear by them but they just didn't work for me.
I've heard a lot of good things about Alaska Arms rings, but I'm not sure they make them for the M70.
There are also EAW "Quick-Loc" mounts (rings & bases) that are very good and very pricey.
Good luck with it.

I use Leupold QD bases and ring on my 375HH as well as other rifles, never a failure,,if you don't need QDs I like Burris signature to save my scope from getting marked up

There are a few different hole spacings for the M70 magnums and I have found Talley to be very accommodating in getting the correct size to me.

I have steel Talley QDs rings and bases on my 375HH. The salesman recommended steel. He's been to Africa 6 times and he said the aluminum doesn't stand up to recoil as well.

Another Warne guy here. Have lots of them and never disappointed.

Warne Steel Bases and Warne Maxima Steel Vertical Split Rings. At least for calibers .270 Win and up.

I do use Leupold Rifleman Aluminum Vertical Split Rings (on OEM Aluminum Weaver Style Bases) on some budget rifles with mild calibers like my T/C Compass in 6.5 Creedmoor.

For the price and intended use I think those are hard to beat. About $25 for Bases and $35 For Rings for the Warne Maxima Steel and less the $10 for the Leupold Rings if you shop around.

Warne’s or Leupold both rank highly in my book

As stated above Safari Express takes different bases than a standard Model 70.

+1 if QR on a 375. I keep two scopes sighted in and take both to Africa. When hunting mixed game, ie DG & PG, one is a 1-6x sighted for 100yds with 300 or 350gr for DG and the other is a 2-12x sighted in point blank range for 235-250gr for PG.
I’m a retired (or maybe really tired) engineer, so I can’t make anything simple:barefoot:!

Steel Talley. Have them on nearly everything that isn't a Blaser or a double. Warne is the same concept, just not quite as well made.

All of them steel. In that order.

Good point. Alaska Arms is another excellent choice. They are a little trickier to set up than Talley, but fantastic once installed. I have a set of them on my Highland Stalker.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
