9.3 Nosler Accubonds

Thanks for the heads up! It's so hard to find 9.3 bullets here in the 907.

Are on clearance at Midway. $28/box

I bought a couple boxes earlier in the year when they put them on clearance. Finally got around to working up some loads just last weekend, will go shoot them next weekend.

Off topic but curious, why is the 9.3 such an underrepresented calibre in the states? I believe it's one of the great all rounders.

Most people don't even know it exists. I didn't know until about 3 years ago my own self. But when I discovered it, I had to have one.

Also, for people who are aware of it, the ammo price (except for PRVI) is unattractive, at 45-60 USD per box. If I didn't reload, I probably wouldn't have bought one.

Last, most hunters in the US only hunt white tail deer or feral hogs (most hunters in the US live east of the Mississippi River). There's just not a big need for a .366 for 2/3 - 3/4 of the hunters in this country.

Also we seem to hate the metric system, outside of the 7mm. Though the 6.5 is gaining traction

I bought 3 boxes. Of course the morning after I buy they run a free shipping offer over $50. Maybe i'll buy more, they'll pair nicely with all my Nosler 9.3x62 brass.

Of course i must wait for my rifle to actually be finished....

@JPbowhunter - also meant to add...there's this really prevalent thought in the US that magnum cartridges are magic death rays that kill animals super dead. Thus, in medium bore, 338 Win Mag rules (not for no good reason, either), leaving 35W and 9.3 family out in the cold.

It's almost humorous to me since most hunters rarely practice at the distances where magnums really start to outperform standard cartridges - past 300 yards. Within obvious limits, any bullet that leaves the muzzle at 2400 fps or faster is "flat shooting" out to 300 yards and will pretty much kill anything you might shoot with it. Again, obviously, you wouldn't go after a grizzly with a .243 Win. But for medium bores, there's no practical difference in flight or terminal performance between 340 Wby and 35W or 9.3x62 inside 300 yards. Any of them are capable of dispatching Alaska browns with a single well-placed bullet (nothing wrong with a couple insurance shots, though, these are large carnivores after all).

I do find that funny,

Metric system for measurement of length is so simple with just an extra zero.
1mm
10mm is 1cm
100cm is 1m
1000m is 1km

How you go with inch to feet to yards to miles I'll never know. Never mind fathoms, chains, links etc.

Still nothing on farenheit though, to me water freezes at zero and boils at 100 haha

On a serious note, i don't understand that either really. The like for like metrics generally have better sectional densities it seems. Maybe it's just patriotism which isn't such a bad thing.

I for one love the 9.3x62, used my brothers on many occasions and never needed more than 1 shot with handloaded 250gn tsx.

Very true, I find in people everywhere (aus is worse than usa in my experience) people get too caught up in the academics of bullet performance, energy, bc and velocity etc. At ranges where none of it makes jack differences.

Australia though I find use big cals to justify bad shooting. A 375 isn't too big for a sambar but when a 130gn soft nose from a 270 can knock em dead inside 100m every time with a vital shot what's the difference?

Anyway I apologise for the digression.

What's really funny is 7 ot 10 American hunters (rough guess, might be more like 8/10) never hunt anything except whitetail, and maybe occasional hogs. There is absolutely NO NEED for ANY magnum for almost every hunter in the usa. But, that's what is popular instead of solid mediums

Well... Being in Alaska, the magnum round is pretty much the standard for most hunting. I used a 338 (Ruger No.1) for years but now my usual go to is a No.1 in 9.3x74R and have been successful on the one shot drops from black bears to moose. It's also my Africa rifle in which I had no issues with but plenty of compliments and questions.

AK gets an exception to the magnum lol its actually useful there. But no deer in Georgia requires a 300 or 338 (or even 257) mag, but I bet more than a few get killed there each year with em.

AK & Mile,

Lots of long range shooting in many parts of this country and there are big bears about as well.

Its true that the majority of hunter's really only ever go after deer and once where the lever Winchester was number one, I believe that's changed and now guys who will never get a shot over 50 yards are toting magums with a bullet that can blow the front end off a 75 pound deer are doing just that and telling hair curling stories of the epic battle between man and beast of how that now 300 pound snarling weredeer almost decapitated our hero and if not for this hunter among hunters steely nerve and lightening quick leopard like reaction's and hip shooting this mega monster deer as he charged over and over again with his 338 Winchester Magnum his children would be orphan's and the wives of everyone in a 5 mile radius would be widows.

Any More I half expect to see guys passing out hand grenades! :A Banana:

And you need a 378 Weatherby for Moose.

9.3 x 74R is a superb caliber. Performs a lot better than the ballistics would suggest. Excellent choice.

Sure, why not? It's a fantastic round. And if you're even just a mediocre shot you should be able to do a high neck shot and save a whole lot of good meat.
