I’ve never seen a cinnamon teal only green wing and blue wing. That’s very handsome!

They are gorgeous birds. I got two of them in this year from the same client. It’s a unicorn bird around here and the luck sucker shot TWO!!!!! He gave the one above to me and had us do the other one for him.

Nice! We don't have them here!

Great bird! Next one
I take your going to mount for me!!!

Cinnamon Teal and stinking woodducks are my nemisis in our flyway. I’ve just about killed myself trying to get one of each and it has yet to happen. I think I’ve killed just about all the rest in our flyway but these two are just about impossible for me at this point.

Beautiful bird and mount. Never even seen one. But we have some good woodies.

Beautiful woody. That’s my bucket list bird and I’ve hunted 3 different states trying to get one with no luck.

When I bought my place in ‘04 there was a beaver dam across a little creek backing water into a little timbered corner- about 3 acres of flooded hard woods. I had seen some mallards land there and went in opening morning with about three decoys just to see. Within the next two hours I had about 20 pairs of woodies land within 20 feet of my blind. I took this one and then just took pictures for a while. Ended up finishing my limit on mallards and mounting this bird.
Remains one of my favorite hunting memories.

That’s an amazing morning for sure. I live for those kind of moments.
By all rights I should have woodies coming out my ears. I have a live spring fed creek running through the middle of me with tons of timber. People shoot wood ducks in this part of the state all the time but I just have some type of voodoo hex on me with them.

That story just made me really think about what you guys do as taxidermists. Every time I look at that mount I remember every detail of that morning from 14 years ago.

As a taxidermist that’s how you know you did it right.

Back when I was a waterfowl hunter in Idaho, I couldn't tell you how many blue and green winged teal I killed. Never saw one of these cinnamons, beautiful bird and the mount is awesome @gizmo!

Thank you Phil. FYI yours and KJ’s turkeys are mounted. They are just drying. It will take a while to fully dry on turkeys. I’ll send you some pics tomorrow.

@gizmo I have a place in Arkansas that I could just about gaurantee your limit on woodies.. it got to the point we would take bets on who wouldnt shoot one lol

That’s awesome. I went to Stuttgart Arkansas in 08 to hunt ducks and specks for 3 days. We killed everything but a dang wood duck. Never even saw a wood duck. I’m telling you, I’m cursed.

There are plenty of wood ducks on my creek by the house. Shot alot of them when I was young and in grade school.

Cinnamon teal is one of my top bucket list ducks. I think they look better than almost all other ducks besides my personal favorite the harlequin. It hurt to pass salt lake when I went to Yellowstone last summer knowing to get a cinnamon I would probably have to go back there at some point.

They are a rare treat here in the US...

If they are truly a bucket list item for you, I recommend a trip to Peru...

I took 4-5 cinnamons and 4-5 white cheeked pintails a day, every day while I was there this past summer (their winter)... we had a ball...

Waterfowl isn’t hard to export from Peru, or expensive...

Go down there.. bust some ducks.. and have @gizmo do some world class mounts for you..

:)
