Want to pick up a 458 Lott for my grandson. He has lots of expierence shooting and hunting with the caliber,so no concern there.
Looking at one of the two manufacturers . Recognize the difference in cost but willing to have AHR work on the CZ.
Need and want advice on quality and reliability of each.

I have owned both, still own the Caprivi. I really like the Caprivi and it functions flawlessly. It doesn’t hurt that it is beautiful also. The CZ was also a good rifle. After AHR has their way with one they are exceptional rifles! Hard choice, it would truly come down to timing for me between the two. If I had time to wait on AHR I would be tempted to go with the CZ. If I needed the rifle immediately the Caprivi from my experience comes out of the box with all the features needed, just regulate your folding leafs, mount a scope, practice and hunt.
Cheers,
Cody

I've had both in .458 Lott. The CZ want feed anything but pointed bullets. It went to AHR and back to the factory and still no help. The Kimber shot two feet low and after sight was adjusted all the way out it still shot 6 1/2" low. Also it would not eject loaded rounds. I sent it back to Kimber and they supposedly fixed it and sent it back. Well, when I got back it still would not eject and I found that the ejector was broken. It went back again and then come back. It still will not eject loaded rounds but it will eject empties after firing. It still shoots 6 1/2" low with no sight adjustment left so this problem was never corrected.I have come to the conclusion that when you get up to .458 rounds and bigger you will have to get into the 5 digit money range to get reliability. I broke down and bought a used Merkel 140 in 500 NE. I shot the same target with it today as I did with the Kimber at 25 yards. With a six o clock hold on the red dot the Merkel put them in the middle. The Kimber is low and off the paper a little left of the vertical line. Which would you take to Africa?

I want to thank all of you for the help.
Have you made a decision?
That last statement makes it sound like you have.
So...what was it?
And of course pictures when you get it.

BeeMaa,
Thank you for your interest but no decision as I need to lay hands on as the next step. At this time I am leaning to the CZ and AHR but am open.
As I have a 416 to fall back on as to timing and both my Grandsons have hvy caliber rifles that once belonged to me should thee be a timing need.
I am a senior senior that enjoys not only ownership but spend at least one morning a week at the range with the chrony and those reloads that are current.

I have a CZ 550 with AHR's #3 upgrade package, and a Kimber Caprivi. I almost qualify to post an opinion (neither are chambered for the Lott)...

In any case, I'm very fond of both of them.

Curious, what are the adjustments people are referring to with the cz?

Check American Hunting Rifles website for upgrades.

Decided to go CZ and AHR.

THANKS TO ALL.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
