Companies that are Non-Supportive of Hunting

I don't see anywhere in the article that Yeti is anti-hunting. Anti-NRA/pro-gun reform and anti-hunting are two completely different animals.
You are correct that gun control and hunting are technically 2 different issues, but they are so often deeply intertwined. Regardless, I will be letting Yeti know that I will take my business elsewhere from now on.

No, they are not the same thing, but they are directly related and it is naive to think otherwise. Anti-hunters are also anti-2nd amendment by and large. They do not see the difference even though you do.

This is the bear trap that the left sets for hunters, by insisting that they are not interested in banning "hunting rifles", and only interested in banning "assault weapons". Yet they cannot define the term assault rifle. These are the same folks that form their ignorant opinions on the appearance of a firearm and not it's actual capability or use. It is very dangerous ground to tread with these folks, and that is why the NRA has given the appearance of digging its heels in the ground on certain proposed reforms and restrictions by the left. The old cliche still applies that if you give an inch, they will take a mile.

I think the key thing here is that Yeti is choosing to not support the NRA Foundation - a non-profit charitable organization that promotes youth education and outdoors programs (not just firearm related). They could have cut contact with the NRA - a lobbying organization. That would have been different. This is a charity group they are no longer supporting.

Very disappointing.

Best comment I've seen on any of the Yeti threads so far. :ROFLMAO:

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has canceled Dick’s Sporting Goods’ membership, thereby expelling the company from the organization.

Dick’s Sporting Goods recently hired a Washington D.C.-based government affairs firm, for “[l]obbying related to gun control.” Dick’s Sporting Goods CEO Edward W. Stack announced earlier this year the retail chain would end sales of modern sporting rifles, voluntarily raise the age to 21 to purchase firearms in their stores and called for more restrictive legislation.

Dick’s later announced they would destroy the remaining modern sporting rifle inventory. NSSF responded that business decisions should be individually made, but was nonetheless disappointed and the decision does not reflect the reality of the vast majority of law-abiding gun owners.

Unless you are strictly a bow hunter, they are. The firearms owners protection act made it legal for a hunter to transport a rifle from one state to another as long as the rifle was unloaded and in a locked hardsided case. NY States response? They changed the definition of a loaded firearm. Now a firearm is legally loaded if ammunition is near the rifle. That is “common sense gun safety legislation”.

Not exactly anti hunting, but anti second amendment, thought this should be posted here also...

Levi Strauss and Nike look to be making themselves future case studies for business school textbooks.

Levi Strauss and Nike are apparel companies. Virtually all product is made in southeast Asia, China, and some, probably subcontracted through China into North Korea. The tariff situation with China, if it continues to widen, will make strategic changes to apparel companies mandatory.

Siding with China against America and American workers is suicide. Could it be that companies are willing to take stands against the current administration in front of the midterms to try and influence the elections and thus help maintain the status quo of world trade.

It will be interesting to see if other companies take similar steps.

Marketing has become more complicated than it once was.

The only thing I know for certain is there will be no more Nike or Levi Strauss bought by this household.

Are you guys sure about Yeti? I just pulled a list of Yeti Ambassadors that are specifically categorized as hunters on Yeti's website:
-Mark Seacat
-Michael Hunsucker
-Lee & Tiffany Lakosky
-Shawn Luchtel
-Steven Rinella
-Jim Shockey
-Jeff Simpson
-Remi Warren

I know some are making the argument that they are anti-second amendment. Not sure if that is true or not (although the people I know on that list all rifle hunt) but the thread is anti-hunting. It would be very odd that they are openly endorsing these folks that make a living off hunting and promoting hunting.

In any case, I don't own any Yeti products but I will be honest, that is only because it has just worked out that way so far.

I followed the Yeti debacle pretty close when it first started. Based on what I read I formed my own opinion of what happened. I have never and probably never will own a Yeti cooler. And it has nothing to do with whether they support the NRA, hunters, fishermen, birdwatchers, etc, etc, etc!!!! They cost too much! The same for me about Dick's. I have never bought anything from Dick's. As I have said before, they are a run, bike, swim, soccer store as far as I am concerned. The fact that they no longer sell AR 15s has no bearing on me. I have never owned an AR, but have shot them thousands and thousands of times. I have no intention of ever buying one.......but if I did, it would come from a gun shop, not a soccer shop!
It's not surprising to me that many professional class hunters/shooters still use them. They are suppose to be the best at what they are.

The free market is the most democratic "institution" the world has ever known. Every day, people "vote" with their wallets, or not, based on their values.

Vote for the candidates who most suit your values. Sometimes, you'll have to hold your nose and vote for someone you don't really like, simply because they are less odious than the alternative.

As far as alternatives...

Instead of Yeti, look at RTic coolers. They're about 25% less expensive and are every bit as good. If you live in God's vacation playground (we call it Texas), RTic is as close as your nearest Buc-ees.

Good article in Field and Stream this month about Patagonia and their stance on hunting and fishing. Even after reading I find that they most likely fit in the “support” of the outdoors, hunting and fishing conservation; however, they tend to be more about public land use, vs privatization, than about preserve our hunting and fishing heritage. Some of the non-profit groups they support are definitely questionable.

A hunter just shared with me an email, see below, that he received from Chris Sandmann from Namvic Tours & Safaris (namvicsafaris.com) in Namibia after inquiring about possibly renting a vehicle from them after his hunting safari.

Wow, business must be good to so balantly turn down a customer.

Maybe, just maybe, if everyone who goes hunting in Namibia, and has connections to AH, tries to book a vehicle with Navmic Tours and Safaris AND quote that you are a hunter; we'll see if anything changes ....
Not rubbing their noses in it, am I?

Hi all...I don't post ften, but I wanted to drop my $0.02 in this ongoing discussion.

As one of the most successful producers of firearms related programming over the years, as a hunter -- including an Africa hunter -- and as a longtime 2nd Amendment activist, I believe (and accept that YMMV) that we are locked in the great war of our generation, a culture war to decide what kind of country we will be. All of us hunters, competitive shooters, CCW carriers, the industries that support us are all, by default on the liberty side of the battlefield, but not all the people on the liberty side of the battlefield are with us (Jeff Flake, JohnMcCain and Paul Ryan...yes, good ole country Paul with that shogun over his shoulder...sold us out after the most incredible electorial upset in history, an upset that we played a huge part in...quite honestly, I believer hunters were the margin in The Rust Belt states.

I don't much believe in the "if people only understood the facts" argument. There may have been a time for that, but it is long past. Our enemies are not dumb; they know the facts every bit as well as we do. But that's not the level they work on. Yesterday an antigun activist speaking to a large woman's group explained that a pistol grip on a stock was designed to facilitate shooting from the hip to spray down crowds of people. Yesterday I read that the sole purpose of a forend on any rifle was to facilitate swinging it back and forth to maximize carnage. The people saying these things know perfectl well that what they are saying is nonsense. That's not what this is about.

Instead, it is a well-funded, well-organized movement to "other" us. If we as a culture can be successfully driven completely out of the mainstream, then, fuctionally, it doesn't matter what they do to us. If we are "othered," who cares about "those people's so-called rights? The rights of the "others" -- those awful people who are not like us, Buffy -- are far less important than the feelings of the righteous people who ejected the others in the first place. Ask the Jews how that worked out for them.

The masks are all off now. Listen very closely to what our enemies say about us. They are actively calling for the end of the Second Amendment, not "commonsense gun control." And hunting? I believe -- and once again this may not conform with your own opinions -- that the progressive Left doesnt give a damn about "sustainable animal population," conservation, any of those things so close to our hearts or that we keep trying to explain to them. Nor do they particularly care how hunting is intertwined with life in Africa.THEY WANT HUNTING -- ALL HUNTING -- GONE. The brave new world of the future will consist of parks, where Junior and Juniorette can see a lovely Disney version of diversity; "experiences," like the African Experience, where you pay your money and see the "glorious wildlife," the "exotic tribes" (who conveniently know English and offer the most charm crafts for sale at a rewaobable price).

You are welcome to think that I am over the top. If you'd like, I'll foward you my routine death threats.

And THANK YOU ALL for seeking out and watching the OUTDOOR CHANNEL and SPORTSMAN'S. I know the kind of heat coming down on my bosses, and they have not given an inch. They have protected our autonomy, our ability to create our visions to support and protect our culture, and that has 't been easy or cheap.

Next season on SHOOTING GALLERY, join Richard Mann and I for a spectacular Cape Buffalo hunt ith Marlin 45-70 lever guns.

Thanks, and RANT MODE OFF!
