Posting photos of dead wild animals could be illegal soon

Agree with @Longwalker. I have never hunted Namibia but if I were to choose to, the fact that their government may not allow posting dead animals on social media would have absolutely no bearing on me. I have never been on Facebook, and have no interest in starting now.

Fakebook hasn't helps hunters at all. To many extremist are on it.

i find it amazing that the countries want you-us to help with their animal control and spend mega bucks to do it and yet want to force you to not take-have or show pictures of your hunt with pictures of the animals taken. and the pictures are just about all we can take home, due to certain import laws from those countries and our own. most countries their are dirt poor or close to it and run are by a ruling class that don,t give a fig about most of their people, only about filling their own pockets. after having been to Africa five times I have seen what its like to be a native of those countries and know its true. this law is and will be noting but a feel good law and hurt the native people even more. and the native people don,t or can,t have the means to protect their cattle sheep or them selfs right at hand when a dangerous animal comes calling, but must rely on a slow government action to help. I,ll go the Africa one more time to see people I have come to call good friends(we have brought several here to the united states for visits) and say good by and thank them for all they have done to make our trips there happy ones.

It sickens me that fellow hunters believe that "rolling-over" for the antis will actually appease them. They will not stop until trophy hunting is banned: PERIOD! Hunters and hunting organizations that conduct such "appeasement activities" are part of the problem, not the solution. Every inch we give shows weakness and results in even more demands for appeasement. Trust me; I am from California and this is how EVERYTHING works here.

Now they want us to "hide" our pictures as not to offend anyone, like hunters are some sort of fringe element that Namibia is embarrassed of. The hunting culture is disappearing because we have hidden it from the mainstream of society and allowed a few on the radical left to vilify it as unacceptable behavior. The very fact that hunters choose to keep their trophy pictures secret, refrain from talking about hunting, and generally behave like they are ashamed of what they do ADDS to the loss of hunting as a part of our culture.

I have other places to hunt besides Namibia, and will freely post my trophies and talk of my adventures with all of my family and friends. Those that are offended can ignore them, just as I ignore the PETA propaganda on social media. You see, they are tricking us into freely omitting our content so they can displace it with their own. PETA understands how powerful of a tool social media is, old hunters do not.

The old-timers on this forum may not think social media is a big deal, but it is a HUGE deal to the next generation; and NEEDS to be used to our advantage NOW if we want the next generation of hunters to take the reigns from us. Its not hard to get a kid interested in hunting and fishing, but social media is the most important tool for that in the 21st century, yet most older hunters disregard it or live in flat-out denial. I have nephews and young family members that see my adventures on social media and beg to come with me on my next one. Books, like those from Hemingway/Ruark/Steinbeck used to captivate the imagination of people and perk their sense of adventure. Now, young folks no longer read books, and social media fills that role.

Stories like these, especially government mandates against hunters on social media, is a very big deal and a huge loss for the future of hunting.

Well said! Appeasement begets more appeasement. History is replete with examples. Ever hear of a guy named Hitler? People tried to appease him. It’s the old slippery slope. Ask gun owners in the UK and Australia about the slippery slope. Starts with handguns and then semi-autos and moves on and on because appeasement doesn’t work. Why do you think the NRA is so hated? Because the NRA doesn’t compromise or offer appeasement. As hunters, we should educate, not appease.

Certainly that ban must include pictures of steaks, hamburgers, Thanksgiving turkeys, chickens, and boiled eggs! All dead animals.

Wouldn't be better to just band fakebook

no pic,s of cereal or cream of wheat either, just plain brown-white boxes.
