If you move up here to join all of us nuts who cling to religion and guns, whatever else you might decide to do, don't choose Fairbanks.
Fairbanks winters are almost as cold as Minneapolis / Saint Paul winters are (lived in The Twin Cities 3 years and couldn't resist a wisecrack at same).
Rather settle in Anchorage or, way down in our "banana belt", which includes Sitka, Juneau, Ketchikan, etc.
You surely would be welcome here if I had anything to say about it.

Were I to move to Alaska (were I to win the lottery and have a family willing to partake in the same), I'd make my home somewhere on the Brooks Range. You almost can't get too far north, nor too remote, for my taste.
