Chapuis .375 belted magnum with leupold 1.25-4x20 scope and swing off mounts.
This rifle shoots a 1 inch group at its regulated range of 60yd with factory federal 300gr so I reckon with homeloads it would be a tackdriver. Beautiful wood in fantastic condition, just can’t see it getting the use it deserves in my cabinet sadly. Africa seems a long way away now!
Rifle is in the UK, not sure what logistics of shipping would be. Looking for something around £5750 ono

Beautiful rifle! Good luck selling it.

Sure would like to buy this one but not sure I can living in the USA
Rock you can have one of your local gun dealers apply for a one time import permit from the BATF and they can fill out the form with the firearm info and the sellers export dealers info then send it in for a OK from the ATF and they will send it back to your dealer. And then mail it off to the exporter from the sellers country and they ship it to the USA and it will go through customs and your dealer can go there and pick up at the nearest customs office. I have done it for one of my customers a few years ago he bought a rifle from Australia on Gun Broker.Or if you might be able to find a dealer close to you that might have a importers FFL.

I also shipped a rifle to Australia from here all I had to do was ship it to a dealer in Calif. That had an exporters FFL.

Not sure if this helps at all but I also live in the next village to 2 US Airforce bases, I dont know if it would be possible to maybe get a friend in the service to have it shipped that way?

Thanks all for the input. I might check with JJ Perodeau in OK. I know he imports Chapuis firearms. However, by the time all the shipping and other related cost are all added up, it might be more economical to just find one in the USA?

@Ukstalker.375 and @Rock375. Yes you two can export and import from England to the U.S. But it is expensive and will take around 6-8 weeks if there are no problems. It is true that any FFL holder can import a gun, but it works much better and faster if you use someone that does this all of the time, (holds an import/export license). UKstalker.375 you first have to find an exporter. Again, preferably someone who does this and not someone that has to learn how to do it. Once you find an exporter who does this as a business he will already have an American importer he uses.Rocky375. You will deal with the American importer completely with the exception of paying for the gun. 5750 pounds is currently about $7550 and this number changes daily. You will have to send the money to the seller or gun shop to start this process. Once the rifle arrives at the American importer, you will pay them directly for all of the import/export cost. A wild ass guess for a $7550 rifle, about $2000, could be more or less. Then and only then will the rifle be sent to your FFL holder for you to pick up. Whether your FFL holder charges you any fees is a separate issue.

On Oct 27, 2016 I bought a $3300 shotgun from William Evans in London. I was there in person, so I paid in person. William Evans is a major dealer in London. They already had the English exporter who sent the gun to Griffin and Howe, American importer in New Jersey. In early December 2016, I paid G&H $1440 plus change for the import/export cost. They sent the gun to my FFL. I picked up the gun around 12 December. Yes , the buyer is the one who pays these cost.

Another American importer is
New Forest Gun room
NFGR Inc.

Port Huron, Michigan 48060

Not suggesting there are not many more U.S. importers, but Griffin and Howe is the one I used to import and New Forest Gun Room is who I used to export to Australia, (because that is who the Buyer chose and he was the one paying the fees/cost.

Good Luck to both of you!

Thanks for your information. It does sound rather complicated and expensive

It is for the novice. For the importers and exporters who do this all the time it works pretty fast. Other than that, it's just a matter of the buyer pushing the money out to the right place at the right time!

Beautiful wood on the rifle.

Do you still have this rifle for sale?

Griffin & Howe is a pretty expensive importer. They are certainly good. However, if you need something imported, I would suggest Simpson Ltd out of Illinois. A little more economical and very user friendly. I have used them to import some rifles i have purchased from Paul Roberts in the UK.

To the OP. Beautiful rifle and best of luck selling.

It would sell fast in the USA!
