AUSTRALIA: Has Anyone Hunted Water Buffalo With Carmor Plains Wildlife Reserve?

I hunted with Matt as well. Only "negative" thing was he let me shoot his 470N.E. double and so I ended up buying one. Good hunting, very large property, comfy camp, nice people and not too remote (about 3hr drive from Darwin).

I did the same exact thing! Of course I already wanted a double anyway. I had a great time hunting with Matt. I'll definitely be going back.

Well my deposit was made today, I'm scheduled for a 2019 water buff hunt. Been reading perfect shot II. I'm a heavy for caliber bullet guy anyways. Think I'm going to round up some 350 gr northforks for the 375 H&H and 430's for the 416 and see how they shoot. I'm sure it will be time to catch a flight before I know it.

Enjoy!

New member doing some research on an Australian water buffalo hunt. Has anyone hunted at
Carmor Plains Wildlife Reserve? They came recommended from a hunting consultant, but I would like to hear if someone here has been there and thier experience. Thanks, John

By the way the Australian water buff is a fair bit bigger than the Cape buff.
However they are normally as aggressive (famous last words).

Yes sir, this is my entry to hunting DG. Cape buffalo and hippo are in my future after this trip.

Excellent choice in both calibers and bullets. Good luck.

I've hunted on Carmoor. Pm me and I'll give you some info.

Do you know how to judge a water buffalo? I haven't been able to find much. I have just been looking at pics of them comparing spread and bases. I much prefer a mature animal walking around with confidence if you will over trophy numbers. But I would still like to be able quickly assess. Some do look young to me just looking at the face...maybe I been staring at them to long. I would definitely like to hear your first hand accounts when you get back. I'm debating on a 2018 or 2019 hunt
Matt will help with your decision. He knows how to judge them even from a long distance.

Great info from lads above

Hope it goes well for you

Obviously a very bad influence on you! Lol!!

The 500 NE will certainly do the trick. Bear in mind that it recoils fairly severely.
I’m trying g to help you overcome the problem with just one NE.
It may take a while but I’ll support you!

Ill be shooting a 500 MDM as my primary and a 375 H&H with a scope as a back up. Still debating weather to use a scope or reciever sight with the 500? I prefer irons but dont want to pass a shot if I dont have to. The pics from members down there are beautiful and I can't wait to go. Also leading to scope or not question looking at the vegetation. One year out and getting all worked up again like when I booked it. I dont think I posted about how I wound up picking Australia. Besides water buff being on my hunt list. My fiancee said it was to hot in Africa so after a conversation she wasn't buying it that depending on time of year and location it wasn't that bad to down right chilly. So being a wise ass I said ok let's go to Australia. Thinking she would know it's a tropical climate also, she said ok, guess she didn't know. Haha hunt is booked half paid and we are going. Then she finds out it's on the warm side and " everything there can kill you" as her friend put it. Its going to be a good time! I told her I can't wait to watch you do laundry in Australia. She had an awesome rebuttle that I will not repeat. But that's why I love her.

The rifle is built on a M70 action and I'll be there next July. I'm told it's the end of the rainy season so it's easier to get around, not to flooded. Still nice weather not to hot.

Hello,

I am considering selling my Rizzini 470 NE double, if you have interest we should discuss.

I love your zebra avatar! Is that yours? If so, would you mind sharing who did your taxidermy work?
