Does anyone know of a company offering firearm insurance for hunters travelling from the US to hunt in South Africa?

Thanks

I use gunandtrophy.com. The program is through Hanover. The Cushman Agency. While they insure guns, I have only used them for trophies which includes hunt price and finished taxidermy valuation. Very fair prices.

I think NRA and SCI both offer firearms insurance plans. Not sure of the details though, and if they cover travel loss and damage.

SAIA is the company that SCI uses if you are a member, its what I use.

Anywhere, anytime including home and afield.

The rates I calculated with NRA were analogous to money from a loan shark. One year's cost, I could build another custom rifle.
Check with Ripcord or Travel Guard for short term rates.

If you are a NRA member, you have $2500 automatically. I then have an additional $10,000 through Affinity which is connected to the NRA. If you want to only insure one gun for a single trip, it's expensive. My guns are insured year round, on the range, hunting in S.A. or stateside and in the home. If you have a gun worth over $2500, (and many of us do) you may have to list details with the company. Affinity dropped some of their relationships with the NRA after the Florida shooting, but I have maintained my gun insurance through them at least until December 1 when the contract expires.

I never ran the numbers but I wonder if it would be cheaper to add a rider to one's homeowner insurance and then get a short term policy for travel.

I checked on the rider for my home insurance through Allstate when I headed over and the cost of it was more than I was willing to pay for one trip. I looked at the NRA insurance and figured that for one trip the $2500 was plenty for a rifle and scope but if you plan on taking more than one rifle you might look into extra insurance.

When I returned I dumped Allstate and went with a new insurer for my home and auto. I just got tired of Allstate always raising the rates without doing anything else.

My situation. I already mentioned that I have the $2500 through NRA membership and $10,000 additional (maybe $12,000 can't remember through NRA affiliate Affinity. When all the BS broke last year after the Florida school shooting. I was prepared for Affinity dropping me. My vehicle and renters insurance is with USAA and has been for a while. So I called them abaout gun insurance. They do so but with a rider. Where with Affinity, you do not have to list the gun unless it is over $2500 value. With USAA, you have to list each gun and all of it's details, and amount you paid for it. I made the list out ready to add it to my other insurance with USAA. But then Affinity advised me they were not canceling my insurance with them. So I didn't change it. If they cancel me on 1 December when my contract expires, I will be going with USAA.

So there is a big difference if you are looking for trip insurance for one gun and if you are looking for insurance for 15-20 guns 24/7 anytime, any place, for any reason. I currently pay about $170 a year, but that is based on amount of insurance, not on how many guns you are insuring.
