Hi Mike , were you not refunded the $50 by my wife when you came to town with your PH Norman? My wife said she refunded you ... and you kindly gave my cook that same $50 as a tip correct..?

And the reason that you paid the for fuel in cash was because that garage on route to the other area ( Which gave you options and opportunities for Elephant ) did not accept a swipe card to pay and only wanted cash or ecocash which unfortunately at the time Norman didn’t have on him .. and I did say to Norman to keep any and all receipts for as I would happily reimburse accordingly..

Question if you had shot one of the bulls that gave you half a chance so to speak would we be having this conversation now..?

When you are hunting with a freelance P.H. he is responsible for the vehicle and gas and tracker. if he has to drive an hour or two looking around most times it comes out of his pocket from his fixed daily income, and some extra gas money is helpful. Better to help with fuel than sit in camp.

Thanks for your input however to be clear every PH freelance or not in Zim is provided with fuel by the operator and if the PH uses his own funds to purchase fuel he will be refunded 100% as long as there is a fuel receipt.. I personally don’t know anyone who has not been refunded or any operator that doesn’t refund.. there may be some out there I just don’t know them ....

You sound bitter.But as you know hunting in never guaranteed. I took 3 elk hunts before killing one, and just an average elk at that. Good luck on your next elephant hunt.

All, it’s obviously a miscommunication. @Slider It would be great to read all the details of your hunt in a report. I’m a fan of the entire story being told. (warts and roses)

Hi Mike , it is unfortunate I was not available when you came into town as I was on another hunt , I refunded Norman for all the receipts he gave me and possibly that was part of what you paid towards fuel I don’t know .. had you asked my wife for $100 I can assure you you would have been refunded $100 . You only asked for $50 ... I am not sure where this is going . I have had a few clients over the years not get a Elephant or a Leopard, not many but yes there have been a few and for the most part 99% of the time they appreciate the effort / challenge and understand hunting to be just that hunting .... nothing is 100% or guaranteed .. I know for a fact there are 1000’s of hunters that hunt every year all over the continents and they don’t all get the animals that they want or go after every time .. why are you going on about this hunt ? From the very beginning in my post I was very transparent about the hunt and what was the conditions as far as options on Council land and private land etc hunting both at night and day .. after all this was a $500 a day hunt for a Elephant Bull....

If Norman received the $50 in fuel that you paid for I will certainly ask him when he returns tomorrow and if it is part of what you paid I’ll happily make a plan for someone in the states to refund you your $50 .. and if it is not I will still refund you $50 .. let me know where to send it ok ..

This dribbling out of select tid-bits is not the way to report on a hunt.

I don't like the smell of this.

Due to being allocated extra quota this year and some good negotiations I can offer a limited amount of Elephant on really good affordable rates .

This offer is open for 2018 only . Expect a mature bull in the 30 -40 lb range and possibly bigger .

7 Days @ US$ 650 a day.
10 Days @ US$ 500 a day

Trophy fee $ 8 000 - $ 10 000 depending if bull is taken on communal land or private land . Permits will be issued per hunt for all available areas with quota available and you will hunt on any or all of these properties depending on where there is good movement as these bulls are at times all over the place and sometimes only on a couple properties , it really various from month to month , anyway thats why you will have options so its a good thing.

A 2nd Bull can be taken at trophy fee price ( No extra day fee required )

Parks game scout $80 a day upto the day you drop him off again so if you shoot your bull on day 3 only pay $240

2% applicable on total days and trophy fees.

Accommodation VAT $ 20 a day

Observers $ 100 a day

CITES TAG and Ivory registration $ 200

Basic field prep / salting and delivery to Bulawayo taxidermist $ 500

Transfer to and from Bulawayo airport to camp Free

I’m with Tim on this. @Slider , if you have a beef with something about this hunt I believe you would be better served by taking it up directly with Wayne or just coming right out and saying what you have to say, maybe in an official hunt report. None of these blips and blurbs and inuendo. Although at this point the ship has kinda already sailed...
